Match Thread Everton 0-3 Spurs . Sun Oct 26th. 4.30

Really don't think we need to overreact to this result. We played really well, we had plenty of chances and on another day they go in.

Annoying that we conceded from set pieces, but to be fair, they were putting brilliant balls in.

O'Brien's disallowed goal changed the game of course. Nonsense decision. Only somebody who has never actually played football could make that call.

Pick any year from 2008 onwards to about 2023 and the best teams then are way better than the teams now. Take the current league leaders who were laughably described as imperious after scraping a 1-0 win yesterday, they rely on set piece goals and can't hold a candle to any Arsenal team in the Wenger years.

Look at today's game which Tottenham won 3-0 to go into third.

Do you think they played us off the park with a scintillating display of free flowing football or demonstrate they are a top 4 team with an assortment of high quality attacking players?

No, they scored two goals from corners and benefited from an appalling display from a biased and unfair official who clearly has a problem with Everton.

The quality of football served up in the premier league is woeful, week after week by practically every team in it.
Agree with the last point. PL football at the moment is basically set pieces, long throws, tactical fouls and time wasting. I don’t bother watching games that Everton aren’t involved in any more.

It has been said before but it was a great error to allocate so much space to the away fans and in the key position they are in. Today was further proof they should be tucked away high up and out of the way. Sitting near to the chanting Spurs fans today was not a good experience. It didn't help with crowd morale. I was in the East lower stand and plenty were leaving long before the end. Everton, next season do something about it please.

They can't it is a league rule that aways get a prestige position. Stadia that were built before the rule are exempt.

What’s Ndiaye’s record like as an out and out striker? We don’t have anyone that can get on the end of a cross, we need to play counter attacking football on the floor… against crabs… as we have no pace either.

One positive though was that Rohl looked like he’s going to settle in and improve our midfield.

Ah yes 2008, super strong league that mate, with the mighty Reading, Derby County, Wigan, Bolton and Birmingham City. Portsmouth finished top 8 along with Blackburn, managed by Mark Hughes with Robbie Savage in midfield.

The league is way way stronger now. Absurd to think otherwise.

I could look at further years, but can’t be bothered.

your having LAUGH RIGHT
didnt look like scoring our goal WAS offside
worrying that was our best team against spurs reserves

It would be a good time to bring a striker or 2 in to the first team. Tell them there is no expectation of goalscoring. Just go out there, annoy the defenders, learn the game at this level and if you score one then that’s a bonus. By the end of the season perhaps one might have proved themselves at prem level.

I can’t fault Beto for his effort, but he just isn’t fast enough or skillful enough or clinical enough with his finishing. I don’t think he is that strong either. He needs to not start.

I would rather give Barrie the chance Beto is getting. Right now they just look like for like, but ai think Barrie has a bit more about him.

0-3 flattered them. There should only have been 1 goal in this, either way.

How did the crowd react to Richarlison?

My head is still burned over that disallowed goal.

Regardless of how close Ndiaye was to Vicario he clearly isnt saving that header in any case... so therefore he made ZERO impact in that phase of play.

The complete lack of common sense that certain officials apply to football matches in this division is genuinely staggering.. and yet its just what we have to sit there and accept week after week after week...

As a fat lad who’s trying to lose a bit of weight I’ve started going on the treadmill. I toil away on the treadmill and plod at a steady pace. Every now and then I hear a good bit of a song that inspires me and I make a slight increase in my speed and form for about 5 seconds… that’s just how Beto moves about on the pitch. He’s absolutely baffling.
