Mateta is quite a beast tho, not really sure on the comparison with Barry, just the presence of Mateta is a different level and he can do all the hustle as well, more all round game with him.

Remember watching him in his second year at Palace mate and he was absolute Pony, incredible how hes come on, but id defo took a couple of years.

I actually think Barry has a decent mix of a skill set if im honest, part of the reason i think we signed him, very raw in this league and in this team though.

Yeah to right, a couple years back and there would be no chance of me backing his signature, and now he'd be a dream signing for most clubs..

Probably is the perfect example of patience..

I guess thats the Palace model mate, i dont remember Eze, Olise, Guel etc bursting onto the season it took them a while to bed in despite showing flashes, but i remember Zaha still being the main man when they were there in their early careers - only really Wharton i remember making a relatively instant impact. I wonder have we become so used to either buying stop gaps in recent years or instant players in Moshiris early years - that we loose heart or write of a players chances to quickly.
 
I don’t think it’s necessarily about writing people off - not that it matters much what the peanut gallery on GOT thinks in any case. If it takes him a season or two but he comes good then brilliant.

We do however also need a functioning striker before then, if at all possible.
 


Barry looks well short for me, and however likeable Beto might be.. we have to be in the market for a striker come jan, surely?

But when moyes was here last time everton was a graveyard for strikers iirc?!
So who know if theyre any good anyway..
