It's ok for @Eggs to laugh but Colin Harvey replaced Royston Vernon as an old fashioned inside right & got booed the then Manager had the sense to remove him& make hima great midfielder - different times I know but can do ling fill a fullback berth I wonder-

….if Catterick had Armstrong I guarantee he wouldn’t have made his debut at San Siro. The discussion is pointless not only in regard to the individuals but in how the game has changed.
Everton won a Youth Cup in ‘65, only 2 of those youngsters had careers at Everton under Catterick. That was in the day with a conveyer belt of local talent but you still had to be very special to make that jump into the first team.
Colin made his debut & went straight back in the reserves- as for our 1970 championship side six local players plus a cheap local player over the park featured in winning that title as for Wayne Rooney a one off coached by Colin Harvey....

1966 in my case. It is all a matter of opinion. The consensus is Armstrong is an excellent prospect. I too have seen very many players who looked like it would happen and it did not for a variety of reasons.
The people who have a full time job in the game often get it wrong as do the fans. Your arrogance is off the scale.
