2025/26 Harrison Armstrong

1 match means basically nothing Joey. I'm interested in what a player can do across a whole season.
We will never know if he his stuck at the mighty Preston will we ????

We are the slowest team in he prem for getting the ball forwards plus maybe the oldest too ....
oh & my brother agrees it was stupid to send him out .... like me he could have learnt more in training with grealish etc etc & been available for the Afcon departures - this lad can play a defensive midfielders role & an attacking one too ..

In todays football the great Colin Harvey would have been loaned out ....

The same lad who made 2 goals in the league cup tie & won MOTM >>> you can spin it either way ....
Exactly and could have had 4 assists that day. James garner hardly gets assists from through balls from midfield, but he’s apparently had a great start to the season and should be in the England reckoning. I don’t think Ndiaye got an Assist last season, maybe 1 at the most, but McNeil probably got 7 or 8. But who would you want in the team

This is the same lad who played 1 through ball in 24 championship matches last season and 0 so far this season?

Edit: I'm being snarky but we do desperately need a passer in midfield. Harrison currently is absolutely not it though.
He played a load of forward passes the other night. At derby he was playing as a deep number 6 midfielder. In a relegation scrap. And so far he’s started 2 games for Preston, he seems to be playing more of a box to box role at Preston so I’d expect assist and goals as he moves forward.
How many assist and goals does garner get ?

If only the club listened to you
I have been watching the blues since 1962 mate please dont try & tell me anything about young players as we just have a conveyor belt of loaning them out or selling them on - we will be ok now as DMs son is a new scout - add him to the 60 we already have - talk me trough the Barry signing ?

Our new right back as our manager was blind back in June ?

Actually him being at Preston is precisely so we *can* know what he does across a whole season, and he can gain the benefit of doing that. Because he'll play ~30 full matches instead of 15 minutes here and there. It's the whole point of the loan.

I don't know why this is such a hill for you to die on, the kid is 18 and he's not a superstar. He's a very good youth prospect. That is something that is very far from being ready to start premier league games.

Like Lookman & Robertson ?

Yeah he's stepped it up this season in his passing compared to last season. Particularly in his last game it looks like.

It still doesn't mean he's the answer to our midfield *right now*. I rate Garner a lot lower than most of the forum I think but that doesn't mean our 18 year old youth prospect is the answer for starting at number 6 every week.

I never said I think Armstrong should be in the team now, Moyes certainly would play him and I’m not sure if he kicks on Moyes starts him every week next season. That’s why imo to get the best out of Armstrong and Dibling and any others we sign, we need a different manager.

I’m with you on Garner

I didn't want him to go on loan, I thought he'd be better working with the players we have, but looking at how Moyes is setting up, where would he manage to get gametime.

Garner
Gana
KDH
Alcaraz
Rohl
Tim

Could you see Moyes putting him ahead of the above players, if so why did he send him out..

Afcon could change it all up.

Ahhh I see. Moyes is a tough one because he was definitely a good choice to being back some consistency and steadiness to the club which was sorely needed. I agree with you with his approach to youth though, it's too conservative for where we need to be probably. The question is when do you look to change it.

If the new leadership team have got their plans in order, they should be already deciding what kind of manager/style of play they're building for long term, and drawing up a list of managers that fit that. If you're sure you've done your research and planning properly on that front, then I think you basically upgrade whenever you can. Look at what managing to snag a Glasner or Iraola can do.
