2025/26 Harrison Armstrong

Saw the second half. Yeah - was actually very entertaining! Preston had over 60% possession, twice the shots, twice the amount of touches in the opposition box… and still lost. They’re very direct - lots of long balls, crosses and intensity, so do get in and around the goal a lot, without looking that much like scoring. Harrison is very much an 8 for them - completely different style and role to the one he flourished in at Derby. He gave the ball away once, every other touch was on a different level to anyone else on the pitch. He has so much quality and the composure to show it even in a chaotic full throttle game like tonight’s. He was the only one still trying to move the opposition around and find a passing combination at the end, as opposed to the general lumping it in. He must have covered some serious ground too. I am absolutely utterly convinced that this lad will be a top premier league player.

And, as said, that ref was bloody awful!

A proper footballer.

A proper footballer.
100%. I’d rather have kept him at the club, but I could just about see the wisdom of the loan tonight - it was properly intense, everyone flying into challenges, and will certainly give him great experience. I loved him as a 6 at Derby, but maybe Moyes see him as too young to play there for us and proving that he can play as a box to box 8 in a more direct team like Preston is his ticket to being a starter for us next season. And he will be!

I think it's a sensible decision sending him out on loan. Gives him a perfect opportunity to play most of the season in a very competitive league. As you say he'll be starting for us next year.

He was much more prominent in the 2nd half, a reasonable first half, you could see his trademark touches as he did with Derby - the short crisp inter passing, letting the ball role across his body to create space. His 2nd half was interesting as PNE changed their shape a bit , keeping him on but bringing on Devine to play further forward so Harrison changed his role too, and then become more of an attacking presence. Nothing outstanding, a good solid performance and perfect for him to be playing in these matches , having to fight and not disappearing out of the game. And just as important Heckingbottom trusting to keep him on and use his versatility.
