2025/26 Thierno Barry

Early season results have been a bit odd but Wolves and Burnley have been absolutely terrible and will be bottom two. We will finish above them and one of Sunderland, West Ham, Leeds, Forest, Villa, Brentford without even thinking about it. We are hyper aware of our own issues because obviously that's what we pay attention to but I promise you that at least 3 of those clubs have it much much worse.

It might be the Everton in me but we havent played that well to think we're comfortable mid table. West ham looked shocking last night. Truely terrible. We drew 1-1 at home with them two weeks ago and they looked the better side 2nd half. Palace we got that fortunate deflected goal in injury time. They could have been out of sight first half. Brighton as well. Another day we're possibly losing that.
Most clubs can probably say similar. Woulda coulda shoulda taken chances. I think we are maybe a little fortunate to be on 11 points right now.
Saying all that. Everton once again going into another season with very little contribution from centre forwards. Can have an inquest till the cows come home. Everton just cant seem to get a through the middle centre forward who looks decent for this league.
Watching Brentford last night. Thiago. £30m from club brugge. Just looks like he's got goals in him.
You can get em.
I hope in a years time Everton are benifiting from Barry Aznou and dibling. It has to pay off. Otherwise there is no justification for shelling out 60/70m for players who are not ready to go.

They bought Thiago last season ,he was injured throughout and when he did play it wasn't notable , didn't score any goals. Thiago only started to produce this season, once again demonstrating in some instances it requires time for a player to settle.

Thats why i said i hope in a years time we are benifiting.
Plus when they bought him they had wissa and mbeumo scoring almost all of their goals. Everton didnt have that luxury so its a pov if people think we should have gone more for ready made players.

Three worse clubs. Same old season then.

To be fair the injured bit is all you need there, he only started 1 game all season because of injury, so we'll never know whether he needed to settle or whether he would have been flying from the off if he hadn't been out with serious injury.

I don’t see us finishing above Villa or Forest personally. Think they have far stronger squads.

Bookies have us around 16/1 to be relegated which seems about right at the minute.

Edit - just remembered who Forest have appointed!

About to say, Sean Dyche approves this message.

I daresay Moyesy will definitely be getting punted EoS if he doesn’t manage to beat the man he replaced.

I agree that in all the excitement, some of the better results could have been very different, Brighton being the prime example. However, we were the better team in a couple of other games we didn’t win, and could very well have been two nil up away against the mighty City.

It’s going to be swings and roundabouts until our strikers start taking chances. We will batter some teams and get a draw, or grind out a random win with a piece of Ndiaye magic after being a bit crap. We seem to find it difficult to be the better team AND win.

Id only say villa mate tbh. West ham first half possibly. There isnt that many more to choose. Leeds was shocking. Liverpool far to passive.
But i agree. So much boils down to having no centre forward. Its amazing we survive most seasons coz we tend play all season with no decent CF.

yes i don’t doubt that, i just don’t know how anyone can be so certain

not sure as well how villa are being put in that bracket, they started badly but have a much better manager and squad than us and just won at spurs. west ham and forest have looked bad but might grind out results with the new managers. i just don’t think we can be so confident that we won’t get sucked in

The only time any striker has looked ok or decent in the last 12 months has been with a "10" closer to him....Doucs and Alcaraz play closer to the striker.

KDH plays more like an 8...and is often 5/10 yards deeper than Alcaraz would be.

So I would like to see the 10, whoever it is, play closer to the striker, I beleive we will see the form start to change that way.

No, we'll finish somewhere around 12th. Perfectly fine considering where we've been recently. Just saying that there is practically 0 chance of either relegation or Europe so I don't agree with either the doomsayers or the impatient crowd.
2 weeks ago Grealish was the best player in the world and we were going to win the league.
Today we are in a relegation dogfight.

Don't ever change Everton 🤣
