2025/26 David Moyes

Same as Buster Douglas had no chance v Tyson or Rahman had no chance v Lewis.

Getting back on subject - I like Moyes but he has an undeniably appalling record at the big grounds. Any other Prem club you care to name has scraped a win away at the ‘big six’ at some point in the recent past
Tyson lost because he wasn't training properly, while Lewis got done for not taking Rahman seriously enough. Emmanuel Steward would not allow Lennox to get complacent and the difference was huge. He was almost unbeatable.

Moyes himself won away to Arsenal a couple of seasons ago. Should actually have won 3-0, but missed a late penalty.

Now that Branthwaite is out for the foreseeable,Garner at RB and O'Brien in the centre of defence would be the sensible option, but then it's Moyes.

I know we should get rid of him and put you in so we can the League & FA Cup double
I'd want him in midfield really. Loved a bit of Edgar, played with an attitude you just don't see anymore. That Dutch side had some stunning players, to consistently operate at a sum less than the product of their parts, for such a long time was truly magical.

Do they? Let's look at who we've lost to?

City and Liverpool. Hmmm yes I would expect us to lose most times against them. Do we usually beat them?

Wolves in the cup was bad and he got pelters for it. Everyone was fuming with his team selection and the performance.

Leeds was down to a dodgy handball decision. You can't really blame Moyes for that unless you have a massive agenda.
There were loads on here rationalising that Wolves loss, claiming it was a good thing and that Moyes was correct to bin off most of the first team for it. There are also lots of posters who go completely mental at even the most marginal criticism of Moyes. Let's not pretend that the factions that sit at the poles of opinion that exist on every subject on the internet somehow don't exist when it comes to Moyes. Every manager we have ever had, including, inexplicably, Benitez, has had a group of uncritical supporters who want to paint naysayers as crazy people. Moyes is no exception.

Everything depends on our recruitment. No manager worth their salt is touching us with our current squad. We have no pace at all, which is a vital component of a successful team these days. If you got a progressive modern coach they would probably keep 4 or 5 players in our current squad.
And Moyes main signings of the summer window lack pace!

Does the "law of averages" suggest Frank Bruno would get the odd win vs. Muhammad Ali if they each fought 40 times?
And there we have it. Moyes's greatest cheerleader revealing his massive inferiority complex.

Honestly, if you were defending Howard Kendall with such a record, I could understand it. But shilling for a relative mediocrity like Moyes is hilarious. If you insist on taking a knife to a gunfight, have the basic decency to sharpen it.

It’s top half this year for me. I think he’ll reach the target and go into his second year. The challenge will be whether we can then kick on to whatever the target the Friedkins have in mind is.

Sometimes I just wish we’d take advantage of some opportunities more. I know we’ll look back at end of the season and probably say job done there’s demonstrable progress but when you’re looking for the team to put their foot down when they’re playing well we ended up with the Villa Wolves Liverpool West Ham stretch. Even last season when we’re 2 up v an abject United and the team is absolutely flying we somehow just always put the dampeners on it.

This is why the naysayers are being laughed at, because you come across as petulant pants pissing whingers who expect us to win every match.

This outrage is really only over 1 loss then? Talk about overreacting. You want everyone up and arms and still raging over a cup loss where we played half our squad players a month ago?

Leeds was us getting done by the refs.

We can't be expecting to beat City or Liverpool realistically. Sure we can hope for it but you can't piss and moan if we don't beat the top of the table teams.

So the only match we've lost this season he deserves some criticism for us that Wolves cup match. If there's only one loss to be drag him over the coals for three months into the season then he's doing alright despite the doom sayers wanting to complain because we are comfortably mid-table after being perennial relegation battlers for four seasons.

I think that's more to do with how drearily predictable that defeat was. As I said the other day, I don't have an issue with losing at Man City after the match. The problem with Moyes is you need to make your peace with such an outcome before the match.

His record at those clubs is staggeringly poor. It would never be "good" - the disparity in resources precludes that - but the law of averages suggests he should be able to fluke the odd win. Instead, he laughs and jokes with Haaland and settles for the predictably plucky 2-0 reverse.

We've seen that movie far too often before. A new manager wouldn't have such baggage and would likely be given 47 chances to address the issue before it becomes the dead weight around the neck that it now is for Moyes. Hence the need for a new start next summer. But 12th this season and move on will do for now.
The only one with baggage here is you. It was a very very good performance until we conceded the second goal and understandably our heads dropped. It was probably the best away performance that we have had at City since their take over. Moyes will 100% be here next season. We would be insane to get rid of him.

I take a sharpened pencil to a penknife fight!

Mediocre team Preston he got an average score out of ten like all the Preston team - we were u done at city as Phill Foden split our defence twice & a 20 year old left back for city ran a mock in the 2nd half - O'Really no it was O'Rielly a young youth player aged 20 years old !
You need to put your teeth back in it you are dictating.
