They have probably. Just Pickford and those around him have repuked any attempts from the beginning, so its not got any traction in media. Don't suppose we get to find out until he retires.

Its not unherd of at Everton, More recently Coleman and Baines, bids came in and even wanted to go, still no malace held given their continuing careers at Everton, Been others further back. We are exceptionally different to most other clubs, fans that is, which Pickford enjoys.

Lee Dixon's issue is personal with Jordan Pickford. It's really weird and it's been going on a very long time now.
As per, he simply couldn't allow praise to go unchecked for Pickford and made a clumsy remark to have a dig at him.

All the pundits have always had an issue with Pickford and have been waiting years for any mistakes to jump on them. Lee Dixon was also right though, we have not won anything in the time Pickford has been playing football, history means nothing in the modern day. None of the bigger clubs have ever tried to sign Pickford, which is also telling.
England 'keeper comes with massive scrutiny, I understand it.
Dixon is totally on another level though, I could search my X posts for Dixon/Pickford over last 5/6 years and it'll be lots of examples.
It wasn't the comment alone, it was how it was delivered in a knee jerk panic response in praise of Pickford. He always does it.
Another example was Dixon saying Pickford hasnt faced decent opposition to get his current record, before constantly praising Kane's goalscoring record. Can't have it both ways.
Other "top clubs" have tried to sign Pickford btw, but they need some encouragement to proceed with it.
Dixon also really dislikes Rashford btw.
It's not just dixon seems like there's a slew of former player commentators who have a grudge against Everton. In the states NBC sports always has ex RS Jim Beglin doing the color commentary, he's rarely direct with his resentment but it's the bias is present when he just discusses the game and talks about the club

If we had won the odd fa cup or league cup and were regularly in Europe he probably wouldn’t have made those comments. We need silverware urgently, the trophy absence is tarnishing the status of the club like it or not.
