2025/26 Charly Alcaraz

Two or three bad moments? He massively limits us in terms of having any control in the middle of the park because (you will deny this) he is really bad on the ball (always has been) and he gets caught out of position a lot. Amazingly we look even worse when he doesn’t play.
Yet we’ve had control in plenty of games this season, including for long stretches at Anfield. Curious.

I suspect part his remit is to break up play.

I dont see the issue with a midfielder getting a yellow, personally I think if you havent picked up a yellow then you havent tried hard enough.

You seem to be using it as a stick to beat him with.
A yellow here and there sure. Every week is a problem!

OH come on, hes not bad, not even close, hes done reasonably well I feel.
He’s badly badly average. I’d say he’s a guy who doesn’t really do a lot wrong but doesn’t really do much to win a game either, but that’s hard to say when he can’t get through a game without getting booked.

I’m not even sure Alcaraz is good necessarily. There’s just a chance he might be and the signing was way more sensible.

Thats fine, average isnt bad.

Yeah but why do you feel the need to put KDH down to make Charly seem high?

Charly showed his talent yesterday, Moyes hates him, maybe hes lazy asf in training? Calls Moyes David? Who knows.

But you clearly arent judging KDH fairly.

I agree, hes pretty average, but average we can work with, average we can put on the pitch.

He’s miles better than Doucoure.

We can’t spend money on 27 year olds that only give us average

Of course we can, it’s when we spend money on players that give us below average that problems start.
No, this is the whole issue with this club. Improvement is only coming if we find edges on players others don’t. Dewsbury-Hall isn’t that. It’s very unlikely any player who has the background he has ever will be. Look at where Palace and Bournemouth and Brighton are finding players. Ok yes there are your occasional Will Hughes or Welbeck or even Grealish but the vast majority of the difference makers are going to be the ones you’ve not heard of.

We’re just too comfortable with those types of guys still. Alcaraz is the exact opposite and that’s why this is so grating to me.

He is an improvement.
