2025/26 Charly Alcaraz

I’d drop Gana completely if it was upto me but you can’t say that on here and I doubt Moyes will ever do it. He plays at least one suicide ball every game. It just becomes a question of whether we concede from it or not. He almost got Tarkwoski sent off and injured v West Ham and he basically gifted Liverpool the Derby. Even last season he set the tone by playing a blind pass across the middle of the pitch that Brighton ran onto and scored when we had actually started the better team. Isn’t that like football rule 101 that all youth players learn not to play it blind across your own goal?
Gana's passing has been sloppy at best this season, at his age, we should not be asking him to start every week. Perhaps when Rohl is fit, he can give Gana a spell.

Last couple of games in particular he's been really poor with the ball.

BUT

The minute he's out of the side, we looks absolutely crap in the middle of the park. Hopefully we get to see Rohl after the break and see what he can add (once fit)

that’s a possibility that rohl is here to try hold our mf together and give gana a rest

but did you see gana run the whole length to get the ball back when they were nearly in?

he’s a machine

@maccavennie coz i typed after you lol

People remember the two or three bad moments and miss the 25 times he does the right thing that make the side functional

Two or three bad moments? He massively limits us in terms of having any control in the middle of the park because (you will deny this) he is really bad on the ball (always has been) and he gets caught out of position a lot. Amazingly we look even worse when he doesn’t play.

Getting three fully deserved yellows in six games as an attacking player is still crazy. It’s a bit wild that there is this largely held belief he’ll be fine deeper when he can barely handle himself further up.
I suspect part his remit is to break up play.

I dont see the issue with a midfielder getting a yellow, personally I think if you havent picked up a yellow then you havent tried hard enough.

You seem to be using it as a stick to beat him with.
