Charly did a very good job today but KDH was very good before his suspension as well. We basically have 4 possible starting players for 3 positions in Garner, Gana, Charly and KDH. If you want to play Charly it probably is at AM which means we have to drop KDH a position to CM. This means dropping Garner or Gana. Tough decisions. Would be fun to try Garner at RB, Gana and KDH at CM and Charly at AM. Any thoughts?

No need for an out and out 10. A modern 3 in the middle would be fine. Too many times teams walk through the centre of us

I really think so too. I'm not sure who comes in for him at CM but I'd love to see it given a proper shot.

KDH to drop deeper and allows a run for Alcaraz, who along with Beto play well together.

Rohl and Tim to also help with that CM role especially when Gana heads off for 5-6 games in the winter.

I wonder whether there's scope for an appraisal of Gana's qualities vis a vis the type of team we want to be. Do we need a midfielder who's awesome at breaking up play but can't pass or shoot effectively? Do we need more rounded qualities in a DCM?

I don't have the answers as I don't watch the game closely enough (too busy yelling at the telly).

Was thinking this today, instead of shoe horning the 4 of them into midfield, give garner an extended run at RB. Especially now Keane might be out injured...

Got to say, he didn’t play like a right back today, when he was playing right back.

It might have been how he’d been told to play, I’m not sure, but it didn’t feel anymore natural than it does when Jake O’Brien is playing there: both do well considering it’s not their position, but a good specialist right back would be a better option.

Watch any game without Gana vs with and his absence is alarming

A specialist RB would be a dream…. Just imagine we actually prioritise this next summer.

However, he is the best option we have and gives us the option to have a ball playing RB who can support further forward, whilst allowing us to play 2 creative players more central.

He definitely gives us another option, rather than a defensively-minded (but effective) option in JOB.

I’d love us to get the fullback positions sorted. I want the days of not even thinking about selection there, of Coleman and Baines just being the guys and that being that.

There have been a couple of moments this season where I’ve caught myself thinking similar - but he played to the whistle today. Very late on he ran back into the right back position to retain possession at pace, which impressed me.
