Im glad you have faith in him but he doesn't do enough for me. He too passive. He not in any battles with the defence. Its like he cant be bothered and I cant tolerate that.

These things always unfold in slow motion and as Beto fell away in the opposite direction to the ball, it felt like one of those “nearly” moments we’d all be fuming over in here, and then Grealish followed in and closed down the clearance I didn’t even see where the ball went, just saw the net bulge.
Having better attackers doesn’t just mean (theoretically) sexier footy, it means a better awareness and reading of the game. Also it’s just hilarious that the silky footballer we’ve all been waiting to score an inevitable worldie ends up getting his first goal like that.

We scored because Grealish is a battler as well as a great talent.
The goal today reminded me of the way the Gwladys would suck the ball in.
I think that’s a mad read to be honest. If anything he was over eager IMO. Chased the ball down well, but when he got the ball he made some woeful choices, not least when him and Illy broke 2v2 and he had the chance to play him back in.
It seems clear to me that him and Dibling need to be playing as impact subs for the time being, but we need to get control of games much earlier to let them do that to their best ability.
Even when Grealish wasn’t having too much success with the ball today he was getting proper stuck in. He’s embraced playing for a club who will need to fight for inches and possession. Just an all round top player.
Beto has earned a run in the side now, so I hope Grealish (and the others) can develop an understanding that brings him into the game more and gets some numbers on the board for him.

What today has gone is eliminate Barry from the equation for the time being. Beto looked at his best which should buy him the next game or two. If he drops back off to his standards of the season so far then it’s time for Illy up top and Charly behind IMO.

We just wouldn’t (and don’t currently) play to their strengths.

Harsh on Beto. His movement and physical strength was miles better than Barry and he was very much involved in both goals. We know he isn’t great technically but he has clear attributes. Barry doesn’t.
I don’t think continuing to try to play the way we have been playing is the way forward tbh mate. Lots to work on over the break.

Here's our dilemma with Barry and Beto:
Barry isn't good enough full stop; Beto only has a good game when he comes off the bench.
We need to start with a false nine.
I strongly suspect you’re right but I think Beto has earned his chance after that display. Last season after Moyes came in he started games and scored some early goals as I recall. We need to start games faster than we have done, and hope that translates to Beto getting himself some more goals.

He's too wasteful.
We need efficiency in terms of chances created and goals scored. Beto is not the answer and no matter how long he gets he wont be....he's still the answer if the question is 'Beto or Barry', like.
