Messymascot's faith in humanity and ginger safe haven

The vague downside Val is that I’ve lost contact with so many friends over the years, including those I went to school with, played football with, went to games with etc. That’s largely down to me and maybe mens ability to keep contacts as well as women do. Interestingly my three kids have never moved far from Aberdeen, returning after university etc , show no real desire to move away and in that sense are the opposite of me but are quite happy.
Their desire to remain close is a testament to your upbringing of them.

Thanks. I was looking after them as a single parent when they were teenagers and we formed close bonds, I’m very much of the belief you should give kids roots …..and wings. Ironically, due to circumstances, I now live 50 miles away from them.!

That’s where I am rapidly approaching with my own teenagers. Still at school but big lumps now. I would struggle hugely if I couldnt see them everyday but who knows where life will bring them.

@Terrarian I want a word with you buddy. This afternoon I had no power, or any internet connectivity at all, in my humble abode. With teenagers sent home from school early due to Amy, it resembled that stage where a well stacked fire looks to be just about to catch. It’s almost like you willed me into experiencing this afternoon with your dystopian postings earlier this week 😀

Good morning all. We arrived at Kalymnos yesterday after what can only be described as the ferry journey from hell. After a 5am thunderstorm on Symi the weather improved and the ferries were sailing. Our ferry was going to Kalymnos via Kos. The hour and a half between Symi and Kos was unreal. I have never seen so many sick people ever. One crew member had the sole job of handing out sickbags- or bigger bin bags if required, there were folk laid in the aisles. I was OK with the boat going up and down but the rolling from side to side made me start looking for where the life jackets were! Strangely once we left Kos, the last half hour to Kalymnos was calm seas and smooth sailing. Kalymnos is lovely - not as pretty as Symi but still charming. Not sure what today's plans are. Have a good one all x

That sounds like the journey from hell, think I’ll stick to being a landlubber! Glad you arrived safely and enjoy your stay.

I’m pretty rubbish at keeping up with people too to be honest even though I’ve stayed put. My husband’s the sociable one and I have very few proper friends who are not shared. Sometimes the pressure of life, working full time and more in a stressful job and bringing up a family leaves little room for anything else. I have been in touch with people who were good friends a long time ago since I retired and find we have little in common anymore. That’s life I guess. It’s good to have family close by though isn’t it.

Morning all, bit breezy but the sun is shining and I may be feeling a bit excited. Hope everyone escaped the worst of Storm Amy especially @Armaghtoffee and @blueloon sounded as though things were getting quite hairy. I’m off to pack some thermals, forecast sounds as though it might be a bit chilly by the banks of the royal blue Mersey.😀
Have a good day, all.💙
It’s definitely stormy here today - waterproofs and thermals required. Hopefully it might have calmed down a bit tomorrow

Haha brilliant.

Morning all, hope you are all well. Storm Amy has put paid to our plans today with our friends who are here for the weekend from Kent. What to do for two 60 odd, two 50 odd, two 30 odd, one 20 odd, two teens and two babies on a day like this. Answers on a postcard please 🤷‍♀️.
I hope it’s better tomorrow- 3 of them are in the away end at HD and I’m looking forward to showing them our beautiful new home.
Have a good weekend 💙

Very similar for me Val, Mrsbl is the sociable one, i moved to her area when we married and at one time didn’t really know anyone. We have joint friends but are both happy to have friends connected to our individual interests that usually the other knows too.
