2025/26 Idrissa Gana Gueye

and anonymous second half

Yeah I was watching the second half and genuinely thought he'd been subbed when West Ham were countering and he was nowhere to be seen.

At times you see him pop up randomly on edge of opponent's box to get wild shots away but that was all KDH and Garner. You'd have thought when West Ham broke and got the cross in he'd have sensed Bowen might've been someone to double up on and help out Myko.

Seemed to spend large parts of that game just stuck in the centre circle when even in mid 30s his mobility is still quite decent.

Personally I'd drop KDH further back and drop Gana. Bring him on late on to help see out the game. He is 36, his legs are beginning to tire around the 60 min mark, maybe it's time to use him more wisely.

….there was a game this season when he ran the length of the pitch and was actually in the opposition box in 90th minute, extraordinary level of fitness.

He is indeed very fit, but I don't believe you haven't noticed him tiring as games go on. Not a criticism btw, hes 36, I just think we could manage his minutes better and maybe allow us to control CM for longer in the game.

I get the impression Moyes would have been subbing Röhl on for him if he was fit.

Definetly a consideration to have garner as the no.6 and have alcaraz and kdh partnered as no.8's..
Would take an aweful lot of fine tuning and tactics to make that work though and I'm not sure charlie is as switched on as kdh. When one pushes on the other needs to sit a bit. But Charlie's instinct to get in the box at the right time is very useful. Kdh seems to enjoy being more on the outside of box trying to pull strings.
A different manager would look to use both im sure.
