What striker would you sign?

The best striker in the world is basically a full time poacher and finisher. Yes there are guys who have a little more about their game but the team is letting down the strikers more than the other way currently.
Poachers create goals too by their movement and anticipation. We have had lots of good situations in games but there is no obvious pass at the end of things because the movement of our forwards is awful. They don't create space for themselves or others. I think you would be amazed by how much better our attack would look with a decent striker. If we had Haaland we would be top 6 easily.

he went awol on international duty, came back with no excuse, Moyes wasn't pleased, then he ruptured his achiles, then got a buttons move away and scored for a few games then disappeared. (half season championship leicester - season at blackburn) then a season in China where he scored in effectively non league then stopped scoring all together. In the pantheon of usual injuries footballers get, it's ACL top that finishes them, then achiles, some never make it back after a leg break.

in 09/10 he was eased back from injury and looked a threat whenever he played

in 10/11 he got phased out, despite having one of his best ever games for us in the 2-0 derby win and some other decent performances around that time when Saha was injured. moyes dropped him as soon as he could for an out of form Saha

im sure Yak then got around 15 goals in 11/12 for a relegated Blackburn

I think Moyes referred to him once as a 'Nigerian 28' - probably something that would force you to resign now. I think he genuinely just thought he was in his mid 30s. and to be fair, i think going off wikipedia he was playing 30+ league games a season for Maccabi Haifa at 15 ...

hat trick on debut, but couldn't sustain it as he was hobbled. Moyes didn't cash in his then record fee striker £11.25m for £1.5m from blackburn for a laugh, he knew, as did Yak. Hence the fairly rapid drop down the leagues and then retirement. It's awful players get crocked, it's why I won't blame Bolasie for being a failed signing (ACL), and absolutely do blame the dr's and previous injury investigators that green lit Gbamin.

The balls aren’t getting to the right areas often enough. Grealish is creating a lot of meh shooting looks. Ndiaye isn’t in a position that allows him to have great end product. Dewsbury Hall is just feeding it out to Grealish and taking set plays. The fullbacks aren’t involved in much. There are plenty of other issues.

For sure, we aren't PSG, but we are currently playing with 10 men. A semi decent striker would improve us massively and give us someone to play off. Good strikers create space for other players to exploit, they make the defense less certain and they create passing opportunities with their movement. We may as well play without a striker for all that Beto and Barry are contributing.

He didn't because that's not the team we're trying to build, I would imagine he was more or less told by TFG to move away from route 1 football after how toxic things got under Dyche.

As you say though the issue is that if you look at our back line - Myko doesn't want to be on the ball anywhere on the pitch, Keane doesn't want to be on the ball in our half, Tark is addicted to hitting diags and O'Brien doesn't want to be on the ball anywhere on the pitch.

Keane is a problem that solves itself when Branthwaite comes back but the fullback positions are the real issue in this team imo. If Rohl can get fit i would seriously consider putting garner back in at rb or lb to regain a modicum of control in build up.

Unpopular opinion seemingly but I think this team can be successful with these strikers. I dont think it can be with the back 4 that started last night.
The whole team is unbalanced. Defenders who struggle to play out with the ball are always going to end up playing it long, doesn't stick then they're back under pressure, rinse and repeat. Teams that press high will always get something and even teams like WH who pack their defence will have a decent chance.
