2025/26 David Moyes

Look, he’s done a decent job and sorted us out defensivley, but we need to see more now and kick on. Square pegs in round holes is ok for a short time, but it cannot be plan A.

His use of the squad and subs is horrendous, and hands the impetus to the opposition when they bring legs on and use all 5 subs.

Alcaraz should be getting more minutes

Let’s try a different system perhaps, move JOB back to cb, play with proper wing backs and get two 10s near to whoever you play st, and start putting the ball in the box faster.

I love Grealish and nidaye but they Fanny about and need to beat their man about 15 times, allowing the defence to get sorted, instead of whipping a ball in after beating their man, while the opposition are facing their goal.

We are far to predictable and easy to defend against, even with the better footballers like KDH, Jack, Ndiaye and Dibling that we’ve signed.
Right now he is not getting the most out of the squad. That's on him and the players. On top of that, he signed these new players. They weren't parachuted in on top of him without his say-so. So, while teething problems are to be expected, he's going to have to own that reality too. My problem with Moyes is that so much of this is about attitude and risk appetite. He continues to play the percentages. That's logical enough - but if you throw out the possibility of "glory" - which is what the cups represent to us - then percentages make for a rather boring and tedious "stability" lacking in fantasy. Stability is great. It doesn't have to be tedious. Right now, we're a very drab ninth. Ninth is right on track, by the way! I'm glad we're ninth. But we've not turned up in the derby, thrown a cup, and underperformed in our last two home league games against sides ripe for the picking. It's joyless stuff. I'm not convinced mid-table obscurity needs to be quite so colourless.

I think we just have to get used to being inconsistent this season as we are still slowly building up a team to a position better than the relegation battles we've been in over recent years.

Still, if you'd offered me 9th place and level on points with Chelsea after 6 games, I'd have taken it
Yeah, but it's not what you do, it's the way you do it...and the way you're Perceived to be doing it*

(*anybody perceive we're playing well?)

It's sweeping generalities such as this that have made you a lighting rod for the ad hominem attacks you were crying about earlier. I say keep it up, when there's limited Everton to talk about your waffle is prime cut stuff for lampooning. I think you're great, it's a shame you didn't close out the influencer schtick before it became a thing, you'd be famous now.
Anyway, things will get worse this season, we'll eventually lose, and then the fertile ground of frustrated blues will be ripe for your moaning.

Rita in case you haven’t noticed we haven’t won since the Wolves away game, which four games ago two losses and two draws scoring two goals in those four games and we’ve only played one in form team in the league this season!

Moyes teams tend to be slow starters and finish season better. This is my hope, especially al when all the 'better' teams are knackered from Europe and cup runs.

Man do we need a decent clever little CF though
Yeah, but if your slow start has meant throwing the League Cup and exiting at the first sign of difficulty in the FA Cup, the surge to a ninth-place finish hardly inspires. We could likely finish mid-table AND have a go in the derby and cups if we wished...

I reckon his almighty turn around from January to May has tainted the size of the job. Had we done ok and been comfortable with a few games to go then the ceiling wouldn't have been raised so far. As it was we were 6th in the form table from what was it fourth bottom form? I can't recall such a turn around since the west ham Tevez miracle (what a dirty piece of business that was).

18 players out, 9 in.

Significantly less numbers to use, a lot of settling in, a new stadium to break in, last minute signings. Realism isn't Everton fans strong point.

We've seen a few spells of progressive entertaining play, eventually we'll see that stuff stitched together for a full half, then for an hour, then up to the subs and a change in play. Then maybe some plan B stuff to mix it up. Like everything it's about time and entitlement. T'was ever thus.
Yeah i'm not sure that's an accurate summary to be honest.

The underlying reason people are impatient with him is because they're seeing the same issues they've already seen from him for 10 years. They don't buy into the idea that he'll change or these are teething problems because they have ample evidence that he won't and they aren't. We brought in £150m worth of new attacking players in the summer, I don't think it's massively surprising that people aren't overly happy at us still looking like we can only score from set pieces. He's not getting sacked and nor should we even be talking about it really, but he's got to do better than he has over the last month or so if he wants people to really believe we're moving forwards.

We shouldn't ever throw a game.

But if that late surge was 8th and Europe, it might help solve our striker debacle.

Full backs not at for us, either Myko not quite good enough, JOB is CB.

If we made Europe, I guarantee you the usuals would be out with the "our squad is not big enough for Thursday night football and a Premier League campaign" mantra before you can say "What is the point of this club, so?"

Too many people among our fanbase just want to be 11th. Being in the Premier League is ALL - even if it means being an irrelevance and simply making up the numbers.

Anyway, being in Europe won't solve the striker problem if we insist on spending 27m on a fella we are now deciding isn't up to it. We spent 9m on a full back we have declared is "one for the future". That's 36m not starting. Add another 36m for Dibling and the 12m for Acaraz and that's the best part of 85m not on the pitch last night at kick off. And we think we're rebuilding...

Beto worked very hard to miss the chances he did against villa, it was practically performance art. Moyes rotated for the league cup game (wolves rotated more) and we served up a silver dish full of crud. An away game at our former former home was always a sizeable ask, started slow but came into the game. I didn't watch or listen last night as I was to tired. I guessed at a 0-0 about an hour before KO. Moyes can't make Beto use his brain and thus communicate with his feet like a pro. He can't grant confidence and experience to Barry. He should by the sounds of it shored up our right flank, N'Diaye has been run into the ground and it's showing, O'B was hung out to dry vs two direct and quick left sided players.
The CM doesn't know what to do, they all look at each other and wonder who's doing what. Often found far to narrow.

Are D-Hall and Rohl attacking players? Rohl and Dibling were signed within a couple of days at the end of the window, limited pre season and new players and surroundings to fit in with. Judging football and a manager based on football and managing 12 years ago is probably a bit of an unbalanced thing to do, 5 subs, goal line tech, var, and a lot more money in the game not least a brand new stadium for us have altered the landscape some.

Some fans* (if they are) just want to moan and grind an axe, then moan and grind an axe when called out for it. Tiresome boring nagging nothings. (not an accusation vs you).

Moyes needs a Yakubu, and quick. As a couch only scout sifting through basic info available, there doesn't seem that type of player about currently, clubs stockpile talent and loan it out here n there. The Belgian top scorer last term is on the books at Wolves with no game time currently. £24m.

It's scandalous to use only two subs in a draw these days. Managers now have this tool to use to affect games more than ever before, not using it is folly.
Not just a draw but a draw where we clearly weren't playing well. Against Villa I thought we should have made changes but I could kind of get on board with why we didn't, and same again in the derby; we were on top and there's an argument that changing it might make you worse so while I didn't agree I could at least see some rationale. Last night was a different thing, we looked awful and subs were actually necessary not just a roll of the dice.

What peeved me yesterday that it was so predictable when we started to lag in the second half that it was inevitable west ham would equalize. There's been a pattern established over the past year under Moyes which he hasn't been able to rectify, we'll look strong for most of the game but if we get a lead we'll make some silly lapse in defense and the opposition will get back into the game. That's exactly what happened, Moyes needs to find ways to address this way too common development
