He was brought on to win us the game and he had 4 touches?
I said this before, the lack of any competent fullbacks mean we play REALLY narrow. Both Grealish and Illy like to cut in. Mykolenko isn't really anything even average going forward and RB is a bleedin CB who just got skinned all today. The problem with that is defenders know they don't have to mark the fullbacks because they are going to do FA if the ball gets to them. The defenders can mark the strikers closer instead of being spread out. It's not science, it's about as obvious as you can get. And to have the absolute balls to say "fullbacks weren't a priority" coming from David fn Moyes when MOST of his success was BECAUSE of fullbacks is about as infuriating as you can get.We do now need to recognise that the likes of Grealish, KDH, even Garner do have quality on the ball. Grealish will get pelters this week for backing his defender into the box, then recycling back to Myko or Garner. Pretty sure all those players would try a pass if there was movement.
Couldn't really afford this to be one of those oh well let's see how it goes signings. At £30m we needed him to hit the ground running.
Tonight was the biggest worry so far. Looked anonymous the whole time he was on.
I don’t think he’s been helped by not having a run in the team.
He should also play 10 mins or so WITH Beto as opposed to straight swapping
Another Everton innovation - the false front twoI don’t think he’s been helped by not having a run in the team.

Neither are earning their time though so at the moment we really need to just stick with one and persevere. That should be Barry as he arguably has more upside. Chopping and changing the striker every game is absolutely not helping us.…..I never get this ‘run of games’ argument. Players have to earn game time, if this lad is showing a degree of threat then he’ll get his run of games. Let’s not forget, he’s only got Beto as competition so he doesn’t have to do much to be a starter.
It’s entirely up to him.

I think Beto looks completely anonymous when he starts aside from that Wolves goal. He struggles so much to get into the game.…..it’s a little bit like Harrison/Lindstrom last season. One would start, the other come on as sub and look a little better and the situation would be reversed the following game.
Call it moving the deck chairs on the Titanic, or Groundhog Day the bottom line is both have been poor. I think I’d start Beto, at least he’s proven he can get a goal at this level although his current form is very poor.

Barry can at least play football compared to Beto who you don't really want to have the ball until those final moments.
Beto has a pass completion % of 54% compared to Barry with 70%. It doesn't sound like much of an improvement but it's huge. Beto provides no outlet or functionality for our technical players around him in Grealish/Ndiaye and KDH who want to play cute little passes rather than spam through balls or over the top balls.
Barry is the guy that can do that from our slim pickings.
Hes going to have to find an alternative way to set us up imo because a goal a game very rarely wins football matches.
Beto was absolutely dreadful last night. Barry didn’t do much wrong and that was because he didn't do anything.
Maybe its not such a ludicrous idea about trying Ndiaye up top for a game. Its not like hes putting chances on a plate for players game in game out (though KDH should have done far better with his headed chance) and thay would give us the option of bringing Dibling and/or Alcaraz in
I think that is looking more like a purple patch rather than something we can look at and think is a viable for the long term.…yep, it’s probably a case of ‘who’s the least worst’ rather than ‘who’s better’.
I wouldn’t die in a ditch over one or the other but I’d tend to go with Beto because he showed last season he can be a handful for the very best and scored a few goals. I appreciate he’s not in that form this season but at least we know he can do it on occasion.
