A no win situation

Its a humiliation that this club hasn't won a trophy for 30 years. It should be an absolute priority to at the very least attempt to put that right.

The club on a high with the move to the Hill D and the opportunity to ACTUALLY make it a gamechanger by winning a trophy at Wembley only months after this new Everton era began. Look at the boost it gave Newcastle. Like them last season we have never won it.

Football is about winning things - not the difference in a few league placings come May.

It's taken Newcastle 3 years and several hundred million pounds to win the league cup. We've had 3 years of negative spending and lost half a team over the summer, it's unrealistic to expect a trophy this year.

Unrealistic to expect us to win a trophy, yes. Unrealistic to expect to try to win a trophy, absolutely not. It's really not that difficult.

Like it or not, nearly all managers make a lot of changes for these early rounds. You have to make use of your squad in these games.

The list of winners since 2014?

City
Chelsea
City
Man U
City
City
City
City
Liverpool
Man U
Liverpool
Newcastle

What does that tell you? Well, it tells me that if you want to win this competition, then you need a squad that is strong. There's no point whinging that we should have gone full strength, because managers just don't do that in these early rounds. Get better squad players in and you have more chance of getting through these early rounds without playing all your first choice players and leaving half of your squad wondering why they even bother turning up for training anymore.

2 finals
2 trips to the CL

When Saudi took over they were in relegation zone.

So im not saying we should be aiming to replicate that, but its possible.

All those teams are playing 60 odd games a season, most of their squads will be on international duties come next week we if lucky have been playing around 42 games a season for what 5 or 6 seasons big difference , players need to show the manager in training that they deserve a chance and when they get the opportunity they hold the shirt that didnt happen Tuesday

I think the unspoken truth that a lot of managers will never say is they're not bothered about the Carabao cup. Hardly any teams play their best 11 which is why the winners are always really random. Most Top 10 Prem teams could boss their way through it if they played their best 11 for every game but hardly any try. No doubt in my mind our best 11 would have turned Wolves over like we did the other week. FA Cup is hopefully a different story and we play our best 11 every game.

Nah. The last 10 years it’s been won by Chelsea (1), Man City (5), Man Utd (2), Liverpool (2) and Saudi-backed Newcastle (1).
He screwed up...end of. We have a light schedule and there was no reason to make 7 changes in this game and throw away whatever momentum we had gained. Now we go into the West Ham game after two losses and a sour taste after the pathetic display against Wolves. Hardly a masterstroke by Moyes. If he really didnt care about the competition and didnt want to risk injury he wouldnt have brought the likes of Grielish

All of them have European football tho so need to rotate, that's the difference. Moyes didn't need to rotate.

Every manager rotates in the early rounds. Not just those in Europe.

Squad players need to be given chances. You might have to turn to those same squad players in the league at some point...

"Alright Dwight lad, I know I didn't trust you in the league cup, and I know you're a bit annoyed about that, and haven't kicked a ball on the pitch for 4 months, but I've got every faith in you to do the business against Arsenal today."

Besides that, the clubs in Europe tend to have bigger squads, and already rotate between Europe and the league. The teams they put out in the early stages of the LC often resembles a third choice, so I'm not sure your point is valid.
