2025/26 Thierno Barry

I don't think he has been provided a lot of opportunities to score , I know as a striker you have to create those chances your self but even though we have clearly enhanced our attacking prowess we still have moments where we lumber around the box not giving our strikers the means to shoot without 6 defenders packed in front of him. Then with the crosses served up , I don't think he's been offered a lot of precision crosses to move on as they are typically lobbed slapdash in the box. I still can't fully asses his abilities for us because I think his teammates have to give something to actually work with.

It's not as if he or Beto are missing sitters every game,it's just that with the limitations our defenders have with the ball at their feet means they will both more often than not get the ball with their back to goal,a skill they both struggle with.

Sorry he just has not got it how many clear cut headers for a tall forward does he head miles over the bar - both our number 9s are inadequate in some aspects of their game - I would try Nydia as a no 9 with Dibling on the wing - with Alcaraz as the no 10 - & play the ball on the deck ....
I could see this being tested at some stage, Ndiaye as the 9 I mean, with Dibling wide right

I just think we'd see less of Ndiaye on the ball, which would be a problem

I think this is probably hitting the truth.

Managers like Moyes and Dyche think defending and keeping a clean sheet is a team thing that everyone has to contribute to. Attacking, scoring goals, something forwards just magically do on their own and it’s their fault if they don’t.

Just watch the way Bournemouth play, they shoot and go for goal, that's how you play football. Don't shoot, don't score.

I think he done a Beto on Tuusday and completely played himself out of the side for Monday.

You have to show a little something at some point, make your own luck when its not happening. He showed very very little. He had one chance after a nice move when he cut inside the left of the box and hit it straight at a defender. Never looked like he was a) going to get a decent shot away or b) find a teammate.

Early days but I'm surprised how poor he is competing for aerial balls considering his size.

Exactly, they're professional footballers on big money. You have to move, be aggressive, shoot and get about the place and make your own luck.

I know strikers get told to go all over the place these days but for me there’s still absolutely nothing wrong with just being in between the CBs on their shoulder and threatening the run in behind most of the time. You don’t score a goal inside your own half on the right wing picking the ball up.

This is where it brings up the big question, that we don't see on the training ground..

Do our players have confidence in him, look at Grealish, he always cuts back and looks for the likes of Garner + KDH, when he goes to the byline he looks to the far post, where he knows he's got the quality of N'Daiye and height of O'Brien. The same goes on in the centre and the other side of the pitch, do a lot of our better players have faith in him.
Or is his movement making that pass a less viable option..

I'm not making a judgement on a player here, I'm just saying have a look at the players around him, that can be a giveaway on it's own.
Unless thats just part of Moyes tactics.

I thought Barry was appalling on Tuesday. Not just because he played badly, but because of his attitude. That booking was unacceptable. This was his chance to show his worth, and he looked miserable, uninterested, and lacking in any real ability.

I'd be surprised if Moyes gives him another start for a few weeks at least.

What is it with us and strikers? Chermity, Kean, Barry, Maupay, Niasse, Sandro, Rondon - is any more useless garbage that I've missed from the past few years?

Barry has only been with us for a couple of months and you're already dismissing him as a striker?
