2025/26 David Moyes

Me not interested in getting silverware rather just get on with winning bleeding games that comes first.
I think that might be where the disconnect is, some of us fans highly prioritized a cup run this year, even at the expense of a couple of league positions. Others do not and see the cups as a way to try out fringe players to improve our league performances.

Moyes appears to be in the latter camp.

Might be an interesting poll to run to judge how many in which camp @Daveysgingerlovechild if you can tear yourself away from important fashion questions ;)

Sorry, that's far too sensible a topic and strays far from my comfort zone of try hard bellend.

If a team is successful, you'll find that they will struggle the following season without the resources of "quality - depth" of squad, just due to the amount of games played and their best players being poached.

It's why managers try to build a winning squad, replace like with like or better, rather than a 1-11 wheels fall off with any changes made team.

The cups give an indication of wether the squad is capable of winning silverware and going on to win and compete in more competitions, with a lot more games to be played.

The U21's are not of a standard / experience, to fill any voids in a squad in this day and age.

It's all about your squad.

Interesting last season to see Postecoglou effectively put the league campaign second and putting all his eggs into the winning of the Europa Cup. He got some pelters from fans but I'd take that anyday of the week. Football is about winning trophies not finishing a few positions higher in the table.

And what if they lost the final to United? No trophy and 17th. Would you be happy?

Didn't have much choice as he had made those comments publicly about how he always wins something in his second season so he had to go for it really.

Weird frame tbh. It takes guts from the manager to say that and then follow through. Give me that in a manager over the cautious approach all day.
I don't disagree but given what was an already precarious league position it was an enormous risk too take which ended up costing him his job in the end.

???? Again, not what I asked
Hilarious, you're accusing me of something that you're doing. I've already answered your question btw, its not my fault you can't make logical inferences. So I'll ask you again if you were a Spurs supporter last season would you have been happy finishing 17th and winning the Europa?

Yes. But, again, you didn’t answer the question, I said what if we sacked off the league for a cup, finished 17th & didn’t win the cup. Would you be happy with that season? Because that’s a different 90 mins away from Spurs last year.
