One of my films of the year so far, but will deffo divide opinion.

Set in an America gripped by a crippling financial depression, an annual event - The Long Walk, offers untold riches to the lad who can walk across America non stop for the longest distance.

The catch being, if you fall below a certain pace for a set period of time, you are shot in the head by the accompanying soldiers.

Slow, but incredibly dark and brutal, with some proper graphic stuff.

The two lads in leads are fantastic and the way film slowly builds to the finale, where only one of the boys can come out of it alive, has your anxiety going through the roof.

A very thought provoking and well put together film, that won’t be for everyone, due to its slowness and graphic brutality.

I thought it was outstanding.

And who thought Alison Janney had the protagonist chops to carry the evil doer threat in a sci fi film? Someone spent a lot of money on this tripe.

An affront to cinema.
I must then be in the minority but I am a big fan of an actress who also happens to have a remarkable background, approach to life and passion across her body of her work - she always seems to deliver in her roles for me, regardless of the quality of the scripts. Purportedly encouraged to pursue the profession from Newman at a young age

I'll have to see this because she strikes me as an acting veteran who can pull off the villain, I just think we aren't accustomed to seeing women in these roles

Calm down old chap

This is seared in my memory as a kid and it's just as thrillingly adult in content and design as it was back in '88.

Beautifully slick animation and a real showpiece for Japanese creativity. The original manga was of course immense but the Anime still holds such greatness.

Hollywood has wanted to remake and Americanise it for decades but it just can't reinterpret how boss this really is.

Went an IMAX a few years ago to re-watch. Held up.
