Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

Sorry but that is our fault. You need to be attempting to sign achievable players

What counts as achievable though? We've just signed a treble-winning player who moved for £100m just four years ago. That wouldn't have seemed achievable at the start of the window and yet here we are.

If we always went for easy deals, the team would never progress.

This is true. Some might say we aimed high with Grealish, and we got him, basically on the basis that he's going to play every game (even with our current best attacking player being a LW). I'm sure there's a few other big teams (like Citeh) who have right sided attacking players with an eye on the world cup. A half decent RW wing who wants to impress and get into their national side have a free run to impress at Everton.
100%

COME ON, get a bloody winger, right back, and a CM. Also a striker who can actually finish a Gman set up.
Beto is no world beater, but last season his finishing when he was running onto through balls was pretty decent. Not seen enough of Barry yet either, but I'd suggest any striker we get in now will be 3rd choice behind those 2.

Are we still doing this yeah? We must wait until late in the window to secure our top targets. We’re down to like our 7th choice right now aren’t we? How many transfer windows have to go by before people realise this magical scenario of securing all your top targets at the end of August that they’ve invented in their head isn’t something that happens?
No, we tried early, very early it seems. There is lots of things to moan about Everton but trying to sign top quality players should not be one.

We could have just gone all in on jack harrison then who would come just to appease those who have no hunger to step up

It in fact seems that we did not try “very early” at all.

Average ones, yes - Demarai Gray would be champing at the bit to come here. However, we aimed high, CL quality high in some cases and it hasnt pulled off. Would you rather Gray type RW or a Kubo type??

Sometimes the best things in life are worth waiting for
What gets me is what’s happened to Moyes much vaunted ability to pluck unknowns out of the lower leagues / abroad for peanuts etc?

tbf to him, the cream of his previous crop, the Cahills, Artetas, Fellanis, Baines Pinaars etc were all CL quality imo, do they not exist anymore, has moyes got a bit lazy / conscious he’s only got 2 years left?……. Barry is possibly a Fellani equivalent in that he wasn’t cheap cheap but will hopefully at least double in value, but you would think there are sub £20m players out there waiting for the opportunities to shine.
