Why Everton Must Act Now in the Transfer Market

The stars are aligning—and not in a way that suggests standing still. As of today, July 17, 2025, the cosmic forecast brings urgency and momentum that Everton would do well to mirror in their recruitment strategy.

Mercury Retrograde in Leo
Traditionally associated with breakdowns in communication and stalled progress, Mercury retrograde is a warning sign. For Everton, this means dithering in negotiations or delaying targets could see deals collapse or misfires in recruitment. The club can’t afford crossed wires—decisive action is needed now, before the retrograde energy drags plans backwards.

Venus in Gemini

This brings a flurry of talk and speculation—perfect conditions for rumours, agent games, and media noise. But it also means the market is alive with conversations. Everton must be in the mix, actively engaging with targets, and not watching from the sidelines.

Uranus Approaching Gemini

With Uranus—the planet of upheaval and innovation—set to enter Gemini soon, a shift is coming. The clubs that embrace bold moves and strategic risk will benefit most. Everton must show ambition now if they want to ride the wave of change rather than be crushed by it.

In short: If Everton want to avoid chaos, cut through the noise, and position themselves ahead of the curve, they need to act now—not after Mercury drags deals into disarray or other clubs beat them to the punch.

Question for the smarter people here than me:

PSR is a looming threat to all/most football clubs, but from next season, if planned, it is being removed for the SCR. Does this give clubs/us more leeway this Summer to do things that PSR might not allow next Summer, but SCR might allow?

I think it would if it was guaranteed to be happening. But as it’s not confirmed, it’s then a risk that you get caught next year if they decide not to change it.

I’m sure the scab 6 have been told whether it’s happening already and everyone else will be informed 2 minutes after the window shuts.

You don't have to pay these you know.
I know, but a release clause like that is a deterrent and suggests a high price so seems unlikely. I just haven't seen anything about him, so wondering where the suggestion is coming from.

….i never looked this up (honest  ).

The squad cost rules (SCR) and top to bottom anchoring rules (TBA) will operate alongside the existing PSR on a shadowing non-binding basis. SCR are similar to Uefa's existing financial sustainability rules, in that they allow clubs to spend up to 85% of their total revenues on squad-related costs.

No idea how the transition from one to the other works.

No.
