Accrington FC were founded in 1878 the same year as us and they were one of the founder members of the football league, unfortunately they dissolved in 1896

Accrington Stanley FC were then formed in 1891 and played in the football league between 1921 and 1962 before they also unfortunately dissolved in 1966

The club was reformed again in 1968 and is now playing in League 2
