In an ideal world you'd let him go and bring in another player who could push Tarks and Branthwaite like JOB, but it isn't an ideal world or squad that we have. CB is probably our greatest position in terms of depth and quality and therefore it's not a position we need to go out of our way to address this window in comparison to others. Keane is someone that I imagine we have been able to reduce the wages on, knows the squad and is happy to be that bench option. For this summer, it's completely fine. We will still be scouting to get a new CB in the near future but for now this is a sensible decision when we have more pressing issues in the squad to fix.
 
it’s not ideal, but here’s hoping the main 3 stay fit and we never see him apart from the odd cup game

we may even now be able to sign a younger CB who can just learn and develop, play u21s or go out on loan and be ready to step into that slot next year, knowing they don’t have the pressure

also means we can put resources and time into the areas we need to improve rhe starting XI, such as right wing, central midfield and right back
