Well done for either ending Glastonbury or for taking it off the BBC.

The BBC can't have it if glasto want it to become a political festival.

The sets been pulled from iPlayer now and both are under investigation from the Plod
Worst post ever! The Kinks headlined the first worthy farm festival and are considered a political band. Glasto has been political since it became a regular event in the 80's

What you are basically saying is you don't like THIS kind of politics (calling out genocide)

Coming to kneecap a bit late here, and expecting a backlash on this.

Obviously speaking out against Israel and IDF is all fine, but what’s the score with them apparently (previously) chanting ‘Up Hammas’ and ‘Up Hezbollah’? That’s not ideal, no?
Apparently taken out of context.

TBH, I can understand the reaction if it were true: 'an enemy of my enemy is my friend' and all that.

They'll get fitted up for it because we all know our government and the 'independent' judiciary are in cahoots with a genocidal regime.

I’ll have a dig around to see if I can see the incident.

Obviously context matters. If they said immediately before that “lots of people chant….”, and then “…but we disagree with that” immediately after, that changes things, so there could be important context. But on its face it’s a bit shady.

Not keen to immediately jump to “it’s a stitch up, to protect the IDF” type conspiracy stuff.

Watched a bit of Kneecaps set on iPlayer including the speech which quite correctly shows support for the people of Palestine.

But all this nonsense about being banned (they aren't) and the BBC editors trying to hide Palestinian flags (they clearly never were going to) is exactly the same kind of alarmist self pity that you get from right wing bigots screaming about two tier Kier and being arrested for being patriotic.

Insipidly dull. It's up there with self revering actors making 'important' political speeches at awards ceremonies.

In regard to Bob Vylan, I mentioned earlier in the Glastonbury thread, they have plenty of lyrics that are arguably as, if not more, controversial than the death to the IDF chants (I joined in on that by the way, so should I be expecting the plod to rock up to my place? )

No one picked up or condemned any of that though. Just the anti-IDF stuff.

Funny that…

Entirely predictable to see that Badenoch shill characterise it as "glorifying violence against Jews".

That argument would stand up if Kneecap's set had been televised live. It wasn't though, and they've simply sidelined it for a day to iplayer and then completely pulled Vylan's set from iplayer.

There's been censorship applied by the broadcaster of the event at the request of the government of this country and 'concerned' interests outside it who have their ear on just about everything.

To make this sound like 'alarmism' is well wide of the mark.

Lol is this a piss take post?

No they can have whatever views they like on the conflict, but at a festival that is partly funded and shown by the UK state entertainment channel that is funded by the government is a massive no.

In fact Glastonbury has just condemned them as they know what issues this will cause.

If Glastonbury wants to let people have political views on stage it simply can't be shown on the BBC

Kneecap set is still there.
Watching it now, 100% behind the Free Palestine agenda but jesus wept they're 'kin awful.
Just a loud shouty noise.

Very, very meh

Yeah, this would be my angle on it. I think it's great that they are speaking their truth and all, and I largely agree with their message. I just think they're pretty crap

If only they had showed Kneecap live but overdubbed their lyrics spoken by an actor like they used to do with Gerry Adams and Martin McGuinness.

That would have made me chuckle no end…surprised no-one at the BBC thought about that!

Is that the same IDF who's members admitted they have been ordered to shoot Palestinians queuing for food?
