Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

The way to add goals are to change where the game is played.

Everton are arguably the worst team in the league when it comes to quality on the ball. In average they manage to keep the ball 8 seconds per possession before giving it away.

When your entire team spends majority of the matches deep into their defensive half it becomes very limited what you can do in 8 seconds.
How can we be the worst team in the ball with one of the worst strikers in the league, yet have top 6 form.

Not even close to the worst team on the ball. Might have lower possession but plenty of worse teams since Moyes came.

Top 6 form? When? Month of June?

Everton were 10th best in the league since Moyes came in. Much due to playing very defensively with a low block. A very strong defense combined with an average attack secured results and points.

But the attack won't be fixed by new recruitment as long as our attackers mostly are tasked with defending 70 meters away from the opponents goal. Most full backs are more often in scoring positions than Everton's wingers.

It's been the same a few seasons now. When Everton win possession, our attackers are 70 meters away from goal, the opponents defenders have a 20 meter head start and its the Everton attackers that are slow. When the same attackers playing for other clubs have shown that there is nothing wrong with their speed.

If we could have more possession, get the teams average positioning 20-30 meters closer to the opponents goal, our attackers would have caused much more problems. And we would have more players in good positions.

From January 15th to May 25th, WE were 6th in the expected points table. Behind RS, Arsenal, Palace, City and Newcastle. xPTS takes into account the quality of the chances created and conceded in a match as opposed to just the base scoreline.

We were 9th in terms of base points with 31, but that's still only 6 less than the RS with 37.

Let's not discredit the achievements.
