Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

I'd say English players were just as hyped back then.

English football is at its strongest now. TV money has attracted great managers and players to the league and Premier League is by far the best league in the world. That was never the case when Scholes, Gerrard, Owen and Cole played.

This season we had two of the worst Premier League teams in the Europa League final. Chelsea could win Conference League without breaking a sweat playing their reserves. West Ham won Conference League whilst being 14th in the league.

Aston Villa and Palace will be favorites to win Europa League next season. Forest should win Conference League.

It is an impossible task to rank football teams, but Opta has a model where they are trying. They have currently Everton as the 30th best team in the world. Looking at the big picture, that is probably the best Everton team David Moyes has managed. He has had better league positions, but in a much poorer league.

The premier league was insane in the late 2000s. 2005 to 2009 there was an English team in the final every year and the rest of the top 4 were often in the semis. Arsenal were better, Utd were better, Chelsea were better, Liverpool were similar, Everton were better, Spurs were better than they are now. It's only really City that have improved.

It’s just my opinion but I think Bellingham is massively overrated and was hugely propped up by essentially allowing to be a false 9 for Real Madrid with Modric and Kroos behind him doing the actual midfield work. When he was asked to play killed this season Madrid weren’t as good. I think he’ll be a problem for England and will end up being sidelined at Madrid eventually or pushed back up front.

That’s not to say he’s not a very good player he obviously is but there’s nothing in his game that Lampard or Gerrard weren’t doing (probably better) at the same age. I just don’t see him in the very top bracket of midfield players.
Finally someone who speaks the truth about Bellingham. He is massively over hyped. He scores spectacular goals occasionally and has a massive ego but as an actual footballer he is pretty limited on the ball. He's not the player you build a team around. He's like a more athletic more selfish less intelligent version of Thomas Muller.

With the amount of Links to players. Surprised so many still fall for nearly every link.Ive give up ages ago believing anything & Everything, as no one actually Knows anything till its officially done. Anyone can say we are close. Its done, they said it 1st and whatever else. You will all drive yourselves insane moaning about players that did sign, nearly signed, or said they may come and didnt. Only one i wanted was the one we got

To be honest I have probably only watched him about 10 times and mostly with England so will take your word for it re Madrid. Maybe he's plateaued a bit? I'd personally prefer on on form Foden but I've watched him loads so maybe biased. Would still take a prime Rooney over almost anyone ever to build a team around, he had everything
