So you would happily risk the entire careers of young people because you can come up with a couple of examples where that didn't happen? And especially Rooney and Hibbert got into the first team in a different time. There aren't many players in PL each year who jump straight from reserves to first team.

I would argue we could blood some young players in pre-season in preparation for a number of appearances next season.

Coleman was dropped in Benfica playing left back in his first game, 5-0 later, he learnt from his experience and played a number of appearances then off on loan until the end of the season.

You need luck and a lot of hard work, young players give a confidence so squads can use their fearless and energy.

Armstrong and Dixon have a great shout at spots within the squad which lack numbers so a good pre-season could catapult their Everton futures.

It seems to me that you may want to sign x,y,Z, but if you’re not in European competition forget it. I know it’s early but a few positive signs would be nice.
