Some suggestions for the Virginia role

Danny Ward
Lucas Bergstrom
Freddie Woodman
Harvey Davies

Suggestions for the Begovic role
Lucasz Fabianski
Frazer Forster
Tom Heaton
John Ruddy

In reality, while Pickford is here Harry Tyrer isn't going to challenge him, so while he's made a steady progression up the leagues, i'd look to loan him out again and hope he proves himself like he has, could eventually lead to £8-10m for him
Matt Ryan would be a good back up option and push Pickford for a starting berth. Fabianski or Forster as 3rd choice would be preferred.

as it stands our strongest starting XI and bench is: -

---------------------Pickford-----------------------

O'Brien--------Tarkowski------Branthwaite----Mykolenko

------------------Gueye*------Garner--------------------

McNeil------------------Alcaraz-------------------N'diaye

--------------------------Beto------------------------------

Bench: Tyrer*, Patterson, Coleman*, Keane*, Iroegbunam, Harrison-Armstrong*, Chermiti*

*this is on the understanding that Gueye and Coleman accept their new contracts and Keane agrees to stay on reduced terms and that Coleman's contract includes a player role and that Tyrer, Chermiti and Harrison-Armstrong are not loaned out next season

I agree but I think we can do better than 8th. I just don't think the likes of Newcastle, Forest and Villa are all that. We recently beat Forest in their own ground during their run-in for a Champions League place. We beat Newcastle, again at their own ground, during their real cup final that they desperately wanted to win to ensure their CL qualification.

All kinds of different things can happen, and there could possibly be a period in which our players have to adapt to the surroundings of our new stadium. But the idea that Forest, Newcastle and Villa are five years ahead of us is absurd imo. I think they're just as crap, or just as good, as we are!
I agree we can do better than eighth. When I see opinions about us hoping to get into the top ten I wonder if any of those so-called experts ever considered at how well we did after Davy came back, and his track record at a club that trusts him. I want, and expect, top six. Nothing less.

I think McNeil, Ndiaye, Beto and Tarkowski have been good signings. Whilst there may have been the Textor influence with O'Brien, you can't rule out Thelwell's potential influence as I doubt many people will know what really went on with that deal.

Vinagre was only ever brought in as a back-up, whilst the others did not have the best of times with us.

Looking at the list of players Thelwell signed with us, the conclusion which I draw is that he did some good business with his hands tied behind his back whilst bringing in high fees on players like Iwobi and Onana (another Thelwell signing who was alright for us).

I mentioned onana in my post

At this point I'm wondering if you REALLY dont know that Thelwell didnt sign Maupay?

Literally the circumstances of the signing have been posted 1000's of times.

He was the director of football at the time he signed him. He had to agree to bring him in.

You cant praise him for bringing o'Brien in then say he had nothing to do with maupay

...His time with Everton has been unlucky.

I hope he goes to Holland or somewhere on loan and stays injury free.

I read the same nonsense about Branthwaite being crap...it was obvious he wasnt...
The same could be said about Gordon after the Preston loan. I don't know why on earth we would sell him. He's 21, had reasons for slow starts along with little moments of intrigue. More importantly he at best is getting us what we paid for him on the market. That'd said we have invested years of development so you are taking a loss when you factor that in. Who knows his level but removed of just being obvious crap the rationale to sell is poor. He has some semblance of pedigree to fetch a good loan in Holland, Germany, France etc. Even a poor loan I don't think alters much the price we would get for him now. If he kicks on you make some profit or factor him in the plans for the squad.

I think you’ll be disappointed then. Villa and Newcastle are very good sides (yes we beat Newcastle away, it’s football). Add them to City, Chelsea, Liverpool and Arsenal, and improved Spurs/Man Utd sides, and the top 6 is a huge ask.

Moyes can keep us in games and we’ll nick some tight ones, but lose others.
