Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

No one making any moves on Emanuel Emegha, I think he`d be perfect for us... Perhaps we are going in for all these others 1st so that they won`t need a striker when we move for him.

Theres a big difference between being interested in a player and actually buying him.

See how many links we have of being intrested in player a or scouting player b or weighing up options about player c.

With reports like that i usually think its either the club or the agent either trying to rush a deal thats already on the table or drum up more intrest in a player
We are allegedly interested, other clubs are allegedly interested, same old same old. Just like Delap but in Spain.

Chelsea are watching Emanuel Emegha’s development at Strasbourg and have held talks with their partner club over a pre-agreement for the striker to move to England in 2026.

Seeing these links elsewhere to Truffert (we were linked in Jan) and Bakayoko at £20mil a pop.

£40mil for those two at LB and RW seems very good value to me. Hopefully there are 'better' options were tracking.

….and why we don’t have to be spending £40m on certain positions, as you posted earlier.

Just to be mischievous

Quite a lot seem to want Grealish.
30 in September. Has scored 12 league goals in 4 seasons playing in an attacking role for a juggernaut of a Man City team

But hate the idea of Soucek. Only a few months older. On a lower wage. Has scored 16 league goals in the last 2 seasons playing for West Ham.

I know one is a much better footballer than the other, but which one would get results for where we currently are?

Ah yes, Chelsea looking to buy more strikers. Found this clip of Chelsea’s board discussing transfer plans this summer. They’re onto something.

Players like Soucek need to be in the end of the type of chances players like Grealish create.

A midfield full of Fellianis would be terrible, they need the Pienaars and Artetas of this world to lay the chances on for them.

Sometimes there’s far too much emphasis put on stats. Someone like Pirlo or Modric Kroos probably don’t have great numbers for goals or assists but they control the game in midfield.

Grealish doesn’t have the best numbers but if he ties up 3 players taking them out the game and two passes later it’s in the net then it doesn’t show on the stats but he’s made the goal.

"Do the math, that's a goal a game"

God bless.

I think it’s easier to find a winger that would put up the numbers that Grealish does, than a midfielder who gets goals like Soucek.

Given our financial constraints I’d be quite ok with

Walker Peters (free, right back and can cover left)
Taranga/Keane (4th choice centre back, Taranga can cover right back)
Soucek (unpopular but useful in both boxes - I wouldn’t pay more than £15m though)
McAtee (£25-30m, creative forward player who’d link well with N’Diaye and Alcaraz. Pushes McNeil to the bench)
Barry (£35m, young, pacey, tall, goal threat)

Loans for another winger and additional cover.

We’d be solid, with a bit more flair. I realise people want more glamorous signings though

I’d be happy with most of these, I just don’t want to see us hoarde any more non technical players and apparently Potter wants Soucek out because his technique isn’t very good, even though they win more with him in. It’s the Docuoure argument again. I just want us to have attacking players that can look after the ball so we don’t always need to find a cross or set piece to break a team down.
