Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

its a very compelling argument

my worry is its quite clear that city and chelsea have two of the best talent development systems in the world

so even if he doesnt play for them, he might develop into a better footballer there, but get his opportunities elsewhere
I see the Chelsea & City academy's (and i think young footballers do to) as a bit like what College football/basketball is in America.

The end goal is to become a professional footballer, when they feel they have got to a certain point that the development programme at these clubs has come to end and they aren't in the first team, they will seek a transfer to another club in the football stratosphere, at whatever level comes for them. They hone there skills with the best coaches, best facility's (and most importantly) the best players in training to test themselves.

Cole Palmer, Liam Delap, James Trafford are all good examples of this, and City aren't bitter as they have made almost £100m on these lads.

so if your a 15 year old lad and City or Chelsea come calling, although your optimum aim is probably to make that first team, but you probably have greater opportunity's at 18-21 then you would if you were at our academy

Everton 🤝 signing six foot six players 🤝 not scoring from a set piece in about 6 months.

They also continually let a lot of youth players go too at 16/18 too who’ve been through their academy system, who go onto to make a good living elsewhere lower down the pyramid too.

Makes economic sense for the teams that pick them up, as the likes of City / Chelsea have spent all the initial money on them.
