Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

Anyone else listen to that media Q&A thing Bobble did where he was talking about what we're doing with getting in a new no.9?

Some worrying things there - we don't believe we can attract a good quality no 9, Moyes really wants Calvert-Lewin to stay, Moyes is unsure on Beto, if Calvert-Lewin stays he will be our first choice with Beto scrapping it out with him, if we get a decent offer for Beto, he would be sold.

It's all so grim. What planet is Moyes on when it comes to strikers?! If we don't believe we can get a striker who can do much better than scrape double figures, why look to shift the one who can and keep the one who misses every one on one he gets?!

Actually wouldn't go into that much detail about it normally, but that thinking really worries me and plays into my long-gestating fear of Moyes and forwards!
Someone you have never met, someone who had no idea whatsoever of the transfer or even the first contact with Charly Alcaraz who isn’t Angus Kinnear, Billy Mckinlay, Leighton Baines, Alan Irvine or David Moyes and has NEVER sat in a room with any of them discussing players is telling you what the exact thinking of them is about strikers? A digital drug dealer has you on emotional strings and you are paying that person for the privilege. Time to go cold turkey from the grifters mate, you seem unwell.

Okay bud. Usually right though ain't he. And footy deals ain't done by Harry Catterick in a greasy spoon on the hatd shoulder anymore. Entourages, agents, club officials, scouts recruitment teams, lawyers etc. So many people, word usually gets out.

Also, the previous is there with Moyes. It is clear what he thinks on many things. He is a very predictable man.

Yes I listened to it, he said he may try and loan a striker if we maybe we can’t get one we want. We put our hat into the ring for Delap, so we could be spending 30mil on him, if he’d agreed to join us. We have a lot to do, so we probably have permanent signings for every position, maybe a 1st 2nd abd 3rd. And we probably have loans and free’s also for every position.

It will just be how we get on getting are main targets and going from there
Very poor to be so dismissive of Beto and to continue to court Calvert-Lewin though. Very poor judgement.

Just seemed more like a post designed to dig out a manager he's not very keen on.
Not really. Think Moyes had done a good job. Don't trust him on player acquistions - particularly strikers. I get extremely frustrated with our poor decision making as a club - this goes way before Moyes - and have the chance for a transformative summer and seem to be circling the same mistakes. It needs to change.

And, it is a forum. Just putting it out there, to see people's thoughts and have an Everton discussion. But I must say I do enjoy the pile on and belittling that often goes on in here when someone wants to discuss something. Like Zat's love of signing young players, or scouting abroad (things good clubs do) and people call him things like a 'transfer virgin' etc. Or if people are genuinely concerned about the running of the club we all love being called 'betwetters' etc.

I have to say I don’t like the behaviour. I love banter but this place can be very nasty at times. People on here should have a think before always going to belittle (I'm sure I have done it too, though I try not to).

One of my best mates took his own life not long ago. And I myself following a series of bad events recently, suffer from acute depression and have developed extreme anxiety. I get through (though many days are tough) and one of my greatest loves, like all of us is EFC. I have spent a lot of time recovering watching podcasts etc. to take my mind off things. I'm sorry if this offends so many of you.

And believe it or not, from the things people post about me, I don't spend my time 'worrying' about Everton as such. I have lost too many people close to me recently to genuinely worry about that.

Sometimes it's just nice to communicate with others about a shared passion, particularly when you feel alone. If you don't agree with me, don't be so condescending. My confidence is pretty low at the moment and I don’t need you, or others to tell me my flaws. Disagree with me, debate with me, whatever, but don't be like that.

This place was always full of good discussions and really funny banter, and like the rest of the world, and social media, at the moment, is becoming very mean-spirited.

I'm not digging you out per se mate, you haven't said anything particularly wrong and other people have posted things too. You don’t know what's going on in my life. But there is no agenda, no point scoring. Just want to chat about the Blues.

Just wish people would prefer banter over being mean-spirited.

Good post mate and a reminder to us all that we never know what someone else is going through. Also that there’s often a fine line between banter and bullying and people will read the intention behind a written message differently. It’s easy to say don’t take it personally but it’s not as easy as that is it?

There are posts I’ll agree with and others I won’t - that’s how forums work, but I’ve definitely been guilty of having unnecessary disagreements (arguments) with some posters and also of posting to try and get a reaction. I’ll try and be better but I know I’ll do it again. We’re lucky that this is one of the best forums, not only for some banter and laughs but also for getting called out on bad behaviour.

End of the day we’re all blues, and even if we all have different opinions, we’re all in this together, and want what’s best for the club.

Back to the transfers - talk of Soucek has gone quiet. I’d be happy with him. (Invites the pile on)

Very poor to be so dismissive of Beto and to continue to court Calvert-Lewin though. Very poor judgement.

There's not 'many' top notch forwards around these days...not like Italy in the 90s.

We need a Batistuta or a Ravanelli, but none exist.

Because Moyes is so bad with forwards, I'm hoping the £30mil goes on another type of player in a different position.

Cant keep DCL after what Moyes said abouf wanting players who arent injury prone.

We need a modern day Yakubu, that man could slot for fun and had the nicest smile I've seen in football. £11 million bones he was bought for. If we could find a similar kind of player for £20-30 million it would transform us. Strong, fast, boss slotter, cool, calm and collected in the box. Or a modern day Lukaku from when he joined us - he was a step up even on prime Yakubu.

I have no idea who the modern equivalents would be of those two, but they will definitely exist and the club should know of them.

Just imagine how good we could be with regens of Yakubu/Lukaku and then a Kanchelskis-type on the right wing.

It shouldn't take 5 new starting XI players to transform us from 13th to 7th-8th next season. Pickford, two of Tarkowski/Branthwaite/O'Brien, Ndiaye, Gueye, Alcaraz, even Mykolenko and Garner would be fine if we had better attacking players.

Fair play mate.💙

…no, I don’t believe in posting those. This fella is linked along with the 6ft 6in German striker.

I think people were commenting because you were putting far too much emotion into rumours and speculation. If bobbles chat in June makes you sad, step away from it and come back when there’s actual transfer news.
