Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

I think I'd be genuinely disappointed if we were to spend that kind of money.
The club may be over the worst off our financial nightmare but the last thing the new owners want to do is over spend and under perform again. Too many seasons of that is what got us in this mess.
I'd rather see the club spend well within their means. Prove any future transfer policy is working on the pitch and grow the team slowly.

Mate as things stand we have 13 first team players.

We need to spend money.

I agree we've just got our head above water so we shouldn't do anything to jeopardise that but we need 10 players in this summer.

If DCL, gana and Keane all agree new deals well still need 7-8 more signings. Personally i think we'll have to spend £150m this summer even utilizing loans.

Yeah I agree with this. If there is ever a time to spend it has to be now. Goodison Park should be sold to the women for an ffp write off like Chelsea and then we need to go and sign around 8-10 players.

The Echo pointing out we will be tight on PSR again (as a relatively good year dropped out of the 3 year rolling) and that if anything sales might be more likely than purchases before 30 June is a gentle reminder to us all of the distance we still have to go under the new owners to be fully stable.

We may be OK, that was certainly TFG’s indication when they took over, but it sounds like it is tight. The £5m revenue loss from fewer TV games won’t have helped. The improved league placing did offset it though.

Unlike last year due to so many expired contracts we do not really have a Godfrey or Dobbin to sell, unless they see Armstrong as dispensable (hopefully not). The press know this which is why we see links to Branthwaite and Beto being sold.

It is lazy journalism in a sense but we are still in a relatively weak position until the new league year starts and the BMD revenue uplift can begin.

Yeah I mean unless they have read all the documents I don’t believe this. We are about to increase revenue with the stadium, we have just got naming rights, we haven’t really bought anyone for years, we have sold and sold and sold. We have new owners. Chelsea did all of this and went out and spent a billion quid. So we have to figure this out.

If we are in a weak position it is by choice. Again we have 2 pl stadiums...be creative with the accounts.

I’d thought CB would be on there unless Sky knows that we are being played for mugs again and giving Keggers another contract. Madness .
Centre half definitely isn't a priority, we've got 3 good ones, which is 3 more than we've got in most positions. If Keane doesn't resign we'll need to pick someone up but I think people are massively overestimating the amount of money we're going to be able to spend if they think we're just going to go out and sign 8-10 genuinely good players.

I wouldn't believe the red echo if it told me the sky was blue.

Were sound psr wise. Were not building a stadium anymore, debts been restructured, stadium income this season.

Not saying were city but we can definitely spend this summer

I quite like the idea of Matt O’Riley (yes, Oh Riley I do).
Was awesome at Celtic and for Denmark, never quite fit into things at Brighton.

Would depend on how much Brighton want for him. There might be better value out there if the price is too high, but would be great in the Doucoure/Garner role as a box-to-box.
Awesome for Denmark ?? He has 2 caps
And being awesome in Scotland doesn’t cut the mustard

The echo journalists are the biggest doom
Merchants on the planet.

The media try and sell our better players every year and have done for as far back as Kenwright taking the wheel.

To be honest, I reckon we'd barely make the papers if it wasn't about us selling to their darlings.

Not saying you are wrong - but this is just the default narrative from pundits, journos etc.

If TFG want to spend, they would seem smart enough to manage it.

Hope they can gradually change the narrative but hopefully not Moshiri circus style.
