Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

Still wrong either way.

Besic was probably a league 1 level footballer.

Short memories.

Can’t remember too many league 1 level midfielders getting multiple motm awards in the premier league and starring against Yaya Toure and the City midfield in a league cup semi final. But yeah let’s just judge him on how he played rehabbing from a snapped cruciate.

Gueye is not good on the ball, spin it whatever way you want. He’s extremely good of the ball, great at making tackles, blocking passing lanes, blocking shots etc. but he’s average at best on the ball. He’s not going to spray balls from a deep lying position to spring forwrad players, he very rarely gets one through the lines (think his one to Ndiaye v Spurs is the only one I remember) at best he gives it sideways safely but there’s a lot of times he plays it blind across the middle of the pitch and we get in trouble.

We can, and need to, get better quality in there. Gueye has been a good player for us but it’s just pure sentimentalism to want to see him starting next season.

Spin it however YOU want, but there’s a reason Besic only made 37 appearances for us over 7 years.
Spent 2 of those years on loan to championship clubs and then went to play in the Hungarian league before the age of 30.

Meanwhile Gueye has been and played alongside one of the worlds best ever footballers at PSG, came home and is still one of the most effective midfielders in the league well into his thirties.

It’s fine, you don’t think Gueye is good enough. But don’t talk crap to try and prove a point.

You’re all over the place. I’m not arguing any of them are overall better midfielders than Gueye, just that Gueye is poor in possession, which he is, are you trying to say he’s good on the ball?

Basic is a different subject but seeing as you seem to be laying into him for some bizarre reason a key factor as to why his career derailed from where it was at his peak is because he got his cruciate absolutely shorn off and it never recovered properly and he came back missing about 3 yards of pace that he had before.

If Gueye was as good as you are making out him to be then he wouldn’t have spent the majority of his career at a Villa team that got relegated and the premier league’s worst ever Everton teams. He was and is a good player but he’s not good enough for where we need to be.

It’s not talking crap to say other midfielders we’ve had are better on the ball than him (they are) or to say that even though he’s been a good player we need better quality than him in midfield to push on (we do). None of these things are controversial so I don’t know why you’re suddenly having a roid rage about it.

Ok.

@NikNak8 What is it you're unsure about ? Explain your confusion to the facts that I raised. Interested to hear your perspective.
Not sure what you mean by V Goodison Park? Also playing in a brand new 52,888 capacity stadium V playing home games at community stadium in front of 17,250 fans, how can you say that wouldnt be taken into consideration? Also with new stadium our ceiling is much higher than Brentford or at least it should be pitched as such. Hence the Ancelotti eyebrow. Sometimes an emoji is easier if I dont have the time 😅

I think he's a very good player, I love watching him. Championship POTS, him coming off in the play off final was a major major blow for them.

Alex crook, basically gives us no chance of getting Delap and now
Linking us with a player Leeds want, he’s a big fat clown him and probably just see’s us as team fighting Leeds, Burnely and Sunderland for players. Hopefully our new owners have bigger ambitions
