Transfer Rumour Liam Delap

I don't watch them every game obviously only when they play Everton but for all the money they have spent they only scraped into the Champions League down to a diabolical refereeing decision and the fact there was an extra place for the Premier League.

Looking at their squad I would say we have a better keeper and defence and they have a better midfield and a striker but they aren't out of reach.

I think they spent the money very well given they started spending it when bottom of the league - but you really do need to spend big to get up there these days, Chelsea spent a billion to sneak into 4th. City and Arsenal can drop £100 million on a single player. Villa have spent big too.

Why would there be a bidding war? It's just £30 million and that's it. Then it's up to him.
It's a 30 million relegation clause, that's not a maximum. If United meet the clause and Chelsea bid 40 whose money do you think Ipswich will accept?

Is Delap a marquee signing? Not for me. That would be someone already proven at the highest level who everyone else would look at and go 'wow, he signed for Everton, didn't see that coming'.

The other interest in Delap, and the comments of the England manager, suggests he must be a good, potentially very good, player but statistically (and I know it is about more than just the numbers) he has not delivered anything amazing this season. His all round play may be getting plaudits - but we need consistently more goals and assists from our forwards. Maybe Moyes can get that out of him - I am just not sure.

Would I take him - yes - do I think we can find equal or better for the same price if he goes elsewhere - yes.
Dont really like the word marquee signing at this time for us becuase for me is more of a squad rebuild buying in quality not just a stand out player. I do think is a young taleny and is a positive sign if does come here thats shows how the club is in a diffent position now a positive place to be
i know im in minority but hes not for me. think the price will get inflated and for me hes no better than Beto
keep looking
Stays at 30 mill is why so many clubs in for him, i get what prople saying that would like a striker to come in ready to go. Is a risk but he has the potential to really grow here. Is why we need another forward if beto really pushing him here and bringing in goals across the team

Gordon would have to get out of Ashley Young's pocket first.

Young was superb against Gordon yesterday and nothing gave me greater pleasure than seeing the little scruff get subbed at half time.

But over the course of the season, (taking away Gordon being a horrible little rs ferret and based on ability) would you rather have Gordon or Jack Harrison/Dwight Mcneil?.

think as he's flavour of the month clubs will bid above the 30m release fee
That doesn't make sense.
A club bids 30m, Ipswich have no choice but to accept it. After that it is up to the player to decide. A club making a bid of over 30m will gain no advantage as 30m secures you the right to try to sign the player.

You would be better advised to offer that extra money as a signing on fee for Delap himself.
