Some of the messages and comments I've seen are awful.

Anyone who sends abusive messages to a public figure is an utter cretin. Anyone who sends racist, violent messages should be locked up.
As a side issue, I always assumed that said public figures would never read the replies to their posts, good or bad. I mean, for example, David Beckham (or actually his PR company) posts some nonsense pics of his chickens or something, and he gets a billion replies from saddos who actually seem to think that he's their friend. Surely Beckham doesn't even read his own posts, let alone the replies?
I'm astonished Mrs DCL reads any of the messages she gets on her Insta or TikTok or whatever other kiddie app she posts her stuff on. Good or bad, they're going to be from sad little fellas who still live with their mum even though they're in their 40s. Anyone who actually has a life doesn't sit there messaging footie players or their wives expecting a reply.
It's a very strange world.

We're going to have to agree to disagree because, for me, there is no world in which someone who puts some pretty mild rebukes out in to the world "bears a bit of the blame" for someone threatening to harm their child. Would she also "bear a bit of the blame" if the imbecile actually followed through and harmed her child?

The people who sent those messages to his missus are the lowest form of life, pure kopite behaviour and they deserve nothing less than banning for life from attending our matches and a knock on the door from plod.
That being said, he needs to leave. The relationship between him and the fanbase will only get worse as he’s simply not good enough or fit enough to score the goals at the regularity needed to get fans like myself back onside.
The difference between him and Beto against Southampton was so stark - even though Beto didn’t get his goal he bullied admittedly very poor players whereas Calvert-Lewin barely barely laid a glove on them. I genuinely wouldn’t keep him on half the salary he’s currently on.

His main contribution of recent seasons appears to be direct or indirect Internet fume and angst.
Which is a shame. He's not turned out the player many of us hoped, be it because he hit his peak with a brief purple patch, injuries took their toll, or he just truly benefited from Don Carlo knowing exactly how to play him. It would have been a great transfer/scouting success if he'd maintained that form/progression.
Instead it's all collapsed into needly rancor. Think a lot perceived him as getting a bit Billy Big Time with all the modelling and took a dislike to him. Shame, he actually seems like one of footballs good guys.
