2024/25 Dominic Calvert-Lewin

"There's no defending it"

But they brought it upon themselves, apparently.

You don't see a contradiction in those statements?

No I don't.

I can simultaneously believe someone bears a bit of blame for putting a post out there, that lets be honest was a sly dig "They might not shout it", that then attracts nobheads saying indefensible things like flies to honey.

Nobody made her write the post in the way she chose to. People should just blank it and move on.

Both parties can bear some fault here but one of them is far more in the wrong and responsible for the situation and that would be whoever is sending racist and misogynistic messages.

I fail to see how the woman defending her husband against Neanderthals is the problem.

Maybe I'm out the loop but this all started with her making an inflammatory post towards the fans for not applauding her husband enough? It was a very strange post on a day where there had been nothing but a great atmosphere in the ground towards everyone connected with the club. Give or take a few songs about Manchester towards an ex striker..

I often wonder at statements like this and there purpose, isn’t the club legally obliged to condemn the abuse and provide support to an employee under employment law.

I often wonder how meaningful the support is we actually provide. There was something similar not so long ago from the club.

Anyway bad Teds who have triggered this obviously.

If that's inflammatory, people need thicker skins. My Lord.

The issue is, 99% of the cowardly knobheads are doing this from anonymous burner accounts and/or aren’t UK based so what can the club really do about it? The social media companies don’t care as they’ve allowed their platforms to turn into cesspits of hate and abuse

She's not THE problem.

But let's not ignore the fact that it's clearly a dig at the support with the "You might not hear it" line.

You bait the line and cast it then you can't be surprised when you reel one in.
Let’s be honest here, the abuse he/they have received has been going on LONG before she made those comments.

100% and wouldn’t disagree in terms of what the club can do in scope, but the club also has a legal responsibility to the player as an employee to condemn and offer support. I think statements like this are purposefully worded.

I’m almost sure we had something similar word for word a couple of months back and seems a stock reaponse, prob as evidence to show its meeting its legal requirement.

Hopefully they are offering the practical support as well behind the statement.

Let's also be honest here and state that this isn't the first time his camp has had a pop at the support for whatever reason. His dad had a few comments when he got in the England squad.

Isn't every football player going to get criticism online? I don't know why it would be any different for Dom.

I don't recall too many other players having their family members posting digs online tbh.

It wasn't her fault.... but.
A few of these been put out i see..
Do you think her post can be read as a dig against the support?

"They might not shout it - but we're proud every single day"

Definitely has an implication that they don't feel he's supported, rightly or wrongly.

I can see why some might take the hump at that but sending messages isn't on.
