Messymascot's faith in humanity and ginger safe haven

Morning all, it’s going to be a scorcher today with the possibility of thunder6 and rain. The farmers would be happy if it did…have a great day all…….
None forecast in this corner of West Lancs unfortunately.

@Val P hope you are feeling ok today.

So, got a week to make my garden look presentable before the big visits better get my skates on.

Well it’s been a fine weekend for me, starting with long stints in the garden on a sunny Friday , moving on to a sunny 10km race on Saturday with friends from my running club. My big mistake was leaving the post race food / presentation early to get home to see our match as apparently I won a small trophy for finishing 1st V70 , definitely an “ Everton that !” 😂. And today my daughter and her husband came up with two grandchildren , the lovely 6 year old Eilidh and 4 year old cheeky chappie Callan . So it was a meet up at the garden centre play park , onto the Fairy Walk trail, a quick visit to see the seals from the beach, back to ours for some more food and cat stroking and the usual “ “Come back you’ve forgotten FIVE things” phone call just after they left. So a fine weekend that for once Everton added too 🙂
Sounds perfect.

Good afternoon. Once again our IT system has failed so I cannot work. Ive been quite lucky - mine worked untilI logged off for lunch, some of my colleagues have been unable to do anything since 10.30 this morning. It is sooo frustrating.
I hope the nose isn't too bad @Val P .
It's a nice day again today. It looks like we had some rain overnight but the sun is out now. I don't think the thunderstorm warnings stretch as far north as us.
Interesting to see the RS fans showing their true colours by booing TTA - and the mental gymnastics from pundits etc that were trying to say it was bang out of order without actually saying it. We can't upset the little darlings can we. ' Best fans in the world'? Yeah right.

Afternoon all, turning a bit cloudy but hopefully the thunderstorms will keep away. Just been writing birthday cards and feeling a bit guilty. First it’s our daughter’s birthday Sunday so will miss it, she will be 43 so it’s not like letting a child down but still feel bad about not seeing her on her day. Second card is for our ex neighbour’s 90th. We have known her for over 40 years and some of you may recall we became her unofficial carers when her physical and mental health deteriorated. Well about two years ago her daughter arranged for her to go into care. We visited on her birthday the first year she was in the home, I’m not sure she knew who we were but she did recall her house and the street. The staff arranged for us to sit in her room rather than the dayroom so we could have a bit of privacy. We stayed for about an hour but her friend came to call for her and she was keen to go off with her so we came away. The staff were absolutely lovely but oh the home was grim and I am ashamed to say although we intended to, for one reason or another we have never been back. Although I could physically take them I arrange for flowers to be delivered for Christmas and birthdays, to ease my conscience I tell myself she probably wouldn’t know who I am any more but in all honesty it’s because I can’t face the thought of seeing her in that care home. They say that confession is good for the soul but I still don’t feel that good about myself. Thanks for listening.💙

It’s a good thing you have done, but it’s hard looking after someone or even visiting. I don’t know anyone in a care home but once went in to give personal feedback and reference for an ex member of staff who applied to work there. As you say, it was grim to say the least….

I saw a lovely AI generated discussion somewhere that showed TAA and Bellingham in Real Madrid shirts giving stick to everybody particularly Carragher and …” you can shut it too Gerrard, yous would have been off to Chelsea if some scally hadn’t threatened to chop your legs off “. Harsh but fair. Actually it was so accurate maybe it wasn’t AI generated.

Thank you all for your kind thoughts. After a difficult night I went to the minor injuries unit in Ormskirk this morning, had my arm xrayed but no obvious fracture noted by the nurse. Hurray for sudocrem, the nose is a bit scabby and bruised but not too bad. Off to Wales in the morning for a few nights - Abersoch, never been for years. Not quite a Greek island but I’m sure we’ll have a lovely time.

Thanks but I can’t help thinking I’ve let her down by chickening out of visiting, I only have to be there for a short time she has to live there. Husband’s aunt went into care and the home she was in was lovely, really homely in the nicest sense but this one is on a different level…

That’s good news, so pleased that there’s no real damage done. Have a lovely time in Wales.
P S Had to edit that was going to put enjoy your break in Wales, probably not the best choice of words.

The ex member of staff I mentioned got the job but packed it in to look at other care home options. The next one she joined was beautiful and set in acres of garden. It’s staggering the difference can be. Without getting into politics, care homes and the people who own and run them need to be properly assessed from the point of view of the guests and their families. I know money is short but these are damned expensive places if you happen to be paying…in my view they should all be part of the NHS…..

Good morning all on this fine sunny day I hope everyone had a good night and wakes afresh for the new day, Off to see the asthma doctor today to hear what they have to say hopefully no more invasive tests ,we will see . I do get a bit fed up with tablets and treatments but I realise that is what is keeping me here . I must stop ripping Moyes apart on here as there are other places to post.
So one last chance ,I hear he wants the team to treat Sunday as the most important game of the season ,so I look forward with a certain trepidation to his selection .
Have a great day all .COYB.

Have a lovely time. Abersoch is lovely and the forecast is sensational.
See you soon.

Morning playmates ( one for the older posters - oh that's all of us - mum used to love Arthur Askey).

Mum ....is well challenging and increasingly unpredictable. She can go from being really narky to the sweetest thing.

Took her for her COVID booster jab yesterday and then later she had her ears micro suctioned - good as gold. Took her tea over and it's " that's too much on my plate how to expect me to eat all that " and threw a strop.

Every day seems like groundhog Day. Very sunny and very hot again. Will do a bit of gardening first thing and then tonight when it's not quite as hot.

Think @Barnfred 55 is traveling up today so safe journey mate and same to @Val P and to @Gwladysover and @anjelikaferrett for later this week.

Unfortunately we didn't get any rain yesterday ( although I believe there was a thunderstorm as close as St Helens) and so I was watering yet again , just trying to keep the shrubs alive at this stage. The cricket field is really suffering with grass already dying in the outfield.

Well, whatever you do have a lovely day everyone.
