Player Valuation: £5m
Fair enough, still early to be writing him off though surely? He's had 2 starts and scored/assisted in both.….on the contrary, I liked him more initially but have become a bit unconvinced.

He's had more than 2 starts? I make it 5 off the top of my head, could be more.Fair enough, still early to be writing him off though surely? He's had 2 starts and scored/assisted in both.
Appreciate that, think maybe to some others 12m seems such a good deal that not actively wanting to sign him does seem like a strong opinion.…I’m not writing him off, I just have no strong opinion on signing him or not.
Alcaraz may not be good enough, but anyone who still wants to see doucoure in the team every week has zero ambition and is happy to watch dog awful football and to float around mid table at best…I’m not writing him off, I just have no strong opinion on signing him or not.
Wow, you're absolutely correct he's started 5.He's had more than 2 starts? I make it 5 off the top of my head, could be more.
But lets keep in mind Alcaraz is 22, just now starting his career, and Doucoure is 32, just now ending it. If we compare them at similar levels of experience:….admittedly these stats might be wrong as I’ve just done a quick calculation based on Wiko. They certainly appear odd at first glance, but comparing the goal returns of attacking midfielder Alcaraz with defensive minded Doucoure;
Alacaraz 1 goal in every 9.5 games for his parent club. 1 goal in 8.2 games over his career.
Doucoure 1 goal in every 7.6 games for Everton. 1 goal in 7.5 over his career.
Surprised if that’s right myselfI must be wrong.
But lets keep in mind Alcaraz is 22, just now starting his career, and Doucoure is 32, just now ending it. If we compare them at similar levels of experience:
Alcaraz has 10 league goals in 3843 minutes, or 1 per 384 at age 22.
Doucoure also had 10 league goals, and it was in 4238 minutes, or 1 per 424 minutes at age 22. Goals per game are meaningless for young players.
Alcaraz may not be good enough, but anyone who still wants to see doucoure in the team every week has zero ambition and is happy to watch dog awful football and to float around mid table at best
…I’m useless at maths and stats but I’d imagine a record over the length of a career is factual but a record over less games can be favourably swayed by a scoring spree or even a hat-trick in a game.
How is 3 goals and 1 assist in 30….it could be case of more pleasing on the eye v more effective.
I’d keep him purely because he’s young, has some skill and is cheap. Even if he doesn’t turn into a world beater in one season, I’m pretty sure he’d be a decent squad player while we’re rebuilding and we’d make a profit on him next summer. Are you useless at ages too? The guy is 22 and nowhere near his peak, which is the point.
How is 3 goals and 1 assist in 30
Games playing in the number 10 role, more effective
Alcaraz has 2 assists already
Well this season in an Everton shirt goals and assists per minutes, alacraz is streets ahead. And let’s not forget he was playing in the prem for a relegation team at 20.…in terms of scoring goals, Doucoure has a better attacking record over an extended career than Alcaraz. That’s the simple truth and Alcaraz needs to improve over the next 200 games to be in the same category as Doucoure. He’ll need to get his skates on.
In respect of being ‘more effective’, as well as currently having a superior goalscoring record, Doucoure also adds far more defensively. I’m not the biggest stats fan but it really surprises me that Doucoure scores more goals than Alcaraz.
Maybe that’s why Doucoure gets selected, I have no idea.
