2024/25 Charly Alcaraz

And Alcaraz is a very capable starting player. He's not going to win us the Champions League, we need to buy players to help us get there over a period of time. I reckon you're being deliberately obtuse over this for some unknown reason, you know exactly what people are saying in regards to signing him.

…I like him too but unlike others I have no strong feelings about brining him here on a permanent. I’m not aware of a queue of clubs after him following his spell at Soton and his scoring record in S America is very ordinary,

Our loan signings have generally been poor, watched the Ipswich loanee on Saturday, Julio Encisco and thought he had talent. We’ve struggled with the likes of Harrison and Lindstrom and Brighton pick up a 21yo like that for £9m. Other than a myriad of crosses, we struggled to open a relegated Ipswich up on Saturday.

Hopefully our transfer business can be much more innovative going forward. Happy to see what happens.

I think we're mad if we dont sign him.

One of the few players who tries to move the ball forward. An actual footballer as opposed to just athletes with no ball control.

Lets leg an actually technically gifted player and get Soucek for 25m ay?

If we don't sign him and spend the money on Soucek, Moyes can GTF, for the fee involved Alcaraz is a very handy purchase.

Moyes maybe wants to spend the money on Soucek. If we haven’t go a lot of cash he will have to prioritise.

Hope I’m wrong, would much prefer Charly.

For 12mil this is a fantastic bit of business.

He's 22yrs old has had a good grounding in some very good clubs , been a regular since he was 17/18.
Looks like he can adapt as a midfielder or forward & looks more comfortable on the ball than any of our players. He's got vision and can find team mates with ease.
He's still developing and he will add much more as he gets more settled and matures.

A full pre season and this lad could/ should be flying.

Don't let this one slip Everton .
This place will go into meltdown when………..

Calvert-Lewin re signs on higher wages.
Doucoure re signs.
MoyesIe insists the Friedkins sign the 30 year old Soucek on a 3 or 4 year deal.

Then the option to buy Alcaraz isn’t taken up! It’s a no brainer get him signed up as soon as possible!

Let the first two go, and learn from the expensive lessons/mistakes of the last few years and go nowhere near Soucek!

Yeah that's always a great measure! Remember when everyone in the world wanted Arteta, Pienaar and Cahill, and we had to fight other teams off? Or Distin?

It's because they didn't, they bought him ~3 years ago. I know for a fact half the people here will piss themselves if we signed a teenager with "no PL experience lad" for close to 10m

Bound to happen tbh.

We don't do learning mate, and we've given the reins to someone who also doesn't, so...

You have to be prepared to take risks in the market these days and we still won't do it. The crossing thing is because we go for managers who still think that's a viable tactic, need too be mixing the play up far more imo.

You keep saying this but everytime I go in this thread I see you complaining about the prospect of us signing him or complaining about other people talking him up too much. Suggests to me that you do in fact have strong feelings about this transfer.

Personally I think you wrote him off a bit early and are reluctant to admit you were wrong about this being good value for money.

…I think the ‘crossing thing’ is far too easily brushed off on the manager. We had similar excuses blaming Dyche for Mykolenko’s lack of assists.

In respect of crosses, the one exception being the brilliant ball in from Alcaraz, it doesn’t help that we deliver so many forward from an angle as opposed to pulling them back from nearer the bye line. McNeil delivered tempters but from that angle the ball is always going away from the strikers. He hasn’t the pace to deliver further upfield.

I think our inability to play through Ipswich was more down to a lack of quality. Posters have been clamouring for Ndiaye, Patterson, Alcaraz and McNeil on the same pitch and when they fail to create chances it’s blame the manager time.

….on the contrary, I liked him more initially but have become a bit unconvinced.

Brighton scout and identify players, we throw darts at a board or buy rejects or has beens or never were's from other Premier League clubs.

No brainer of a signing. Someone who can carry the ball, pick a pass and get shots off. Particularly useful on the break.

Hopefully we can negotiate a lower fee but 15 mil euros isn't much for prem players these days.

*brings in a player on loan with a view to a permanent from a Brazilian club who couldn’t find a home in Europe a couple years after being a fairly in demand young player but who is still only 22*

“Yeah wish we were a bit more innovative”

People keep blaming the managers because we keep bringing in managers with decades long careers of having sides that are poor in the final third.
