Roma Watch

Buongiorno @AS Roma_fan - I wonder, are there any [fringe] players at Roma that you think could be potentially candidates to be headed over here?
I don't know, but it's likely.

Roma has an outstanding youth sector, so every year you get some young players that can help. This year I think we won all the national championships from sub-11 to sub-20. It's by far the best academy in Italy, with strong links to many small development teams all over the country and beyond. Only Inter and Atalanta come close. But recently we've been hit by mismanagement, and the Friedkins have made mistakes in this field.

1) We don't have a B team yet, while Atalanta B and Juventus B could be promoted to Serie B at the end of this season. Everybody thought Roma would be the first club to set up a B side when federal rules were changed in 2018, but it didn't happen. So we have this unreasonable missing link btw the academy and the first team. It's a terrible waste, because we produce so many new prospects each year and we have to loan them, losing the chance to speed up and steer their development. Ranieri has made it clear to the Friedkins that a B team is crucial. I hope they'll listen to him.

2) Lately, we've let some of the best young players go! Calafiori is the no. 1 example. We sold him for peanuts to Basel, 2 years later he's a key player at Arsenal. Un inconceivable mistake. Would this have happened within the current framework? Maybe he would be at Everton now, with cash in our bank, or he would be with us after a good season in the right hands.
Few people know that we were about to sell Totti to Sampdoria in 1995, because he wasn't deemed ready for the first team. 😄

I hope this situation will bring mutual benefits to Everton and Roma, not only economically speaking.
