Places to avoid

Over the years I`ve spent a lot of time in Manchester, via mates who moved there with work, through working there myself and I had quite a few girlfriends over the years from Manchester too.

It`s just like every city, in that you need to know where to go and until you know your way around, it helps having someone who`s into the same things as you to show you around.

There`s loads of wonderful old skool back street Victorian boozers in the city centre ( you need to know where they are though )

Then you`ve got the likes of Castlefields and the Gay Village around the canal and all the nightlife around them.

China Town has some great places to eat, as does the curry mile in Rusholme.

Then you`ve got the likes of Didsbury and Chorlton with all their trendy bars, pubs, places to eat and the uber posh Alderly Edge and around there, were the footy players live.

The bad parts of Manchester are worse than LIverpool though, I`ll give you that.

The likes of Hulme and a place you`ve probably never heard of called Bench Hill ( a lot of Shameless was filmed around there ) are not off third world.

Some great live venues for music and theatre too.

Used to feel the same about Manchester until getting shown some truly amazing pubs that I otherwise wouldn't have known. The city arms, peveril of the peak, marble arch amongst others.

As you say it's absolutely key that you're with someone who knows what you're into.

I just found it really boring and uninspiring. It probably didn't help that I had just spent about 3 weeks in Scotland before I went, Ireland just seemed like a Temu version in comparison.

And the constant craving for everyone to acknowledge how great they are gets old very quickly. Like the annoying little brother that needs the acceptance of his big brothers cool friends.

Giant's causeway was nice though.
True.

Lincoln voted Labour and Lib Dem, it's the feral lands of the Lincolnshire fens you want to avoid.

(Tbf, it's been like that ever since I've been here)

No word of a lie, I used to teach guitar at schools in rural fenland towns and villages, and every now and then I did assemblies to drum up business, and I used to play battling banjos, but it wasn't a conscious decision 🤣 my subconscious must have thought "we're here now, give them what they want" and I've only just twigged what I was doing since seeing this picture!

I've a mate who's a guitar teacher around there. Think he lives in Quadring now. Created an app called 'Riffler'. You might know him.

Also for the South Lincs h8rs: we need webbed feet to get around the fens and marshes. You 'normies' would just get trapped and would die. It's called evolution.
