Messymascot's faith in humanity and ginger safe haven

For any of you watching the election results from Runcorn and Cheshire, the counting , interviews and announcement shown on TV took place at Halton Table Tennis club which , apart from yesterday obviously, has 8 tables permanently set up and is the North West centre of excellence for TT.

It's a 2nd home for me and woefully inadequate as a hub for NW ping pong.

I think people would be genuinely surprised how popular table tennis is. This week I went to a new club set up in Old Roan Methodist Church and there were over 65 people wanting to play and ages ranged between 8 and 80 with players of all standard from beginners to those representing England.

When I win the lottery I will build a proper centre somewhere in Merseyside 😂.

Anyway it's Friday so after housework , gym and gardening I will allow myself some moderate imbibing.

Election results so far look terribly worrying, it looks like we are following very closely in America's footsteps. The worst of it are that Labour appear to be tone deaf and not listening or learning. This continuing mantra of "we inherited a mess " true as it might be just won't wash with people.

Tomorrow is cricket day and with the club short of volunteers I've agreed to help out behind the bar - any tips @peteblue ? 😂

Have a lovely day everyone.
Without dwelling on the politics unduly, the concern is that Labour address this with a further move to the centre right. They are certainly not the Labour of old when it comes to Ireland and quite frankly I am disgusted by Hilary Benn.

And as for bar tips, generous measures and plenty of banter and they’ll be asking you back 😀

Well happy G&T Friday everyone. Looks like I'm spending it on my own which is fine. It's quite sunny as I type this so I'm enjoying it sat in the back with Wunderhorse in my left ear and a birds chorus in my right.

I've just had a bit of an embarrassing moment. I went onto the main bedroom balcony to check on the weather. My eyes strayed to next doors garden where I found the neighbours daughter sunbathing, just as she opened her eyes and clocked me. This is my GP neighbours by the way, not my landlord. And their daughter is about 21 now, and I think still at University, probably studying modelling or something. Poppy her name is. Poppy the poppet. Anyway I smiled and waved before making a very quick exit back into the bedroom.

I don't even know why I feel embarrassed. It was all perfectly innocent.
Once a cad ......

This Kneecap thing has escalated mate. Surprised it hasn't been discussed more on the forum. I'm going to give them the benefit of the doubt. The one constant is support for Palestine and condemnation of Israel actions in Gaza. And the Hamas support and MP killing cooments appear to have been one offs. Plus they have issued apologetic statements for the latter 2. Time to move on for me.

Have you checked out Fyfe Dangerfield as per @blue1948 name check? I’m loving this one, kinda Beatles, kinda Billy Joel. Bit of Damien Rice even..

Only the one Blue posted which wasn't for me so didn't delve. I'll give that a listen later. These G&Ts go down far quicker when you're sat in the sun.

Fish and chips without the chips for tea. How about you.?

@Val P , hoping that Fred can fit in a visit to my garden on Monday afternoon ( after the last game at Goodison ) do you and Mr P fancy joining us ?
If I was you Val I'd wait and see what the weather's like. I don't have that luxury.

Edit. Sorry mate the 2 strong G&Ts have gone to my head and is bringing out my inner cad.😀

And it would be lovely to meet you Val.
