Messymascot's faith in humanity and ginger safe haven

I know everyone is getting emotional about leaving GP, but having been going there since I was a young kid back in the 50’s, watching the main stand and Park End getting rebuilt, the removal of the boys pen etc and the current decrepit state of the lower Bullens, I can’t really take this sentimentality on board. I’m just focused on BMD and the beginning of the next chapter in our history……

Me and my dad had season tickets in Bullens Rd in the 70s , he would always park at the Hermitage pub meet some of his mates there, then about a 20 mins walk to GP, seen some great games back in the day, was in the boys pen when we beat West Brom to win the league

Remember being in the Street end and singing with a bow legged chicken and a knock kneed hen you know the rest, Goodison has some great memories but we did need to move on , but already organizing at trip to BM next season with 3 mates from here one of the guys coming back is cousin to Jackie who owns the White Star so hopefully get together with my mates back home for a right pish up, Fred get your dancing shoes on :)

Good evening all. We've had another lovely day today until about 6.30pm when there was a huge thunderstorm and hailstones! Guess which numpty was bringing the shopping in when the hail struck! I was like a drowned rat! I hope you feel a bit better today @Terrarian and that you managed to go to to your group.
Great news about Mum @jazzy
I too am in Liverpool that weekend I'm meeting my cousins for one of our now regular catch ups aka drinking sessions on the Saturday afternoon and staying in town on Saturday night at the Atlantic Tower. Would love to meet up with @Gwladysover and @Barnfred 55 , if it's logistically possible .
I went back to work today after two weeks off. Guess what? The IT system crashed for about 4 hours. Totally useless!
Frankie continues to be the most placid little guy. He's just so cute.
Have a lovely evening x
Rubbish that you are suffering with your headaches again. Hope you were able to get to your group thing this afternoon.
Morning all.

I did get to group, I feel it's important even though they're just reading off handout sheets, the problem is when I have a headache it's very hard to concentrate and process information, hence why I disappear off here.

I explained about my headaches and one of the other (are we patients? I don't know) members of the group, started asking me stupid questions like have I tried this or have I tried that; like I'm a bit simple and have done nothing for ten years. it annoyed me a tad.

Masterchef Oz has started, I've seen every season and so I am tuning in. Not much else happening my time's taken up fighting pain.

Sorry I'm not more engaging yet, I hopefully will find a solution at some point. A Drs visit has to be on the cards, I have to give in and get stronger meds I can't carry on like this, constant head pain.

Happy Friday. Enjoy whatever you have planned, G&T for Fred i reckon :lol: Speak later.

I feel for you T but you must go to the doctor not a question .Do you try to copy any of the recipes ? Are they online as I think at one time the UK ones were posted .I remember the kid doing desserts a couple of years ago that blew the judges mind ,as much as my wife loves to cook she doesn't want to watch .I think I will have to watch on this instead as I love Masterchef .
One more thing T and I am sure that we all feel the same ,there is no obligation to follow mini threads ,just visit and let us know how you are .As you can tell we all care and do miss you visiting and giving the news on Madam Daisy.

Good morning all on this splendid day here clear skies and soaring temperatures ,well 14°C .I hope all are well and had a good night ,it really feels like the end of the season ,I am in the same camp as @peteblue in that I will miss The Old Lady but I feel when we get a full house in BMD it will wash away any tears .
So season ticket holders can buy their seats from the club but they womn't get the seat ! I am looking forward to seeing who is playing tomorrow and DD's ideas .Have a great day all ,I will post a drink later but I seem to remember just as the glass is empty.
It will be special if Fred ,Anj and Gwladys can meet with Jazzy .Mandatory photos will be required as proof .COYB.

That's my intention too but rumours are that there will be a cordon around Goodison that you can only enter by showing a match ticket?

Me and a couple of mates will.try to get as close as possible to the Old Lady and watch the game in a pub close to the ground.
I’m not that hopeful we will get anywhere near the ground but Rob is determined to try.

For any of you watching the election results from Runcorn and Cheshire, the counting , interviews and announcement shown on TV took place at Halton Table Tennis club which , apart from yesterday obviously, has 8 tables permanently set up and is the North West centre of excellence for TT.

It's a 2nd home for me and woefully inadequate as a hub for NW ping pong.

I think people would be genuinely surprised how popular table tennis is. This week I went to a new club set up in Old Roan Methodist Church and there were over 65 people wanting to play and ages ranged between 8 and 80 with players of all standard from beginners to those representing England.

When I win the lottery I will build a proper centre somewhere in Merseyside 😂.

Anyway it's Friday so after housework , gym and gardening I will allow myself some moderate imbibing.

Election results so far look terribly worrying, it looks like we are following very closely in America's footsteps. The worst of it are that Labour appear to be tone deaf and not listening or learning. This continuing mantra of "we inherited a mess " true as it might be just won't wash with people.

Tomorrow is cricket day and with the club short of volunteers I've agreed to help out behind the bar - any tips @peteblue ? 😂

Have a lovely day everyone.

I appreciate you all putting up with my constant whining blue.

I can't cook, I've watched all forms of MasterChef for probably 20years now and I still burn soup haha. It's finances really posh cooking costs money and that's the only recipes I get from MasterChef.

I always walk at this time of morning and see or should I say smell :lol: all the youngsters who have just discovered deodorant and perfume/after shave, glad i don't have to go through all that again. Kids are bizarre the amount I see walking with friends no matter how many and they'll all be individually on their phones as they walk.

Pleased to hear that you felt able to get to your group even though you are suffering with your head pain. I know your situation isn’t the same as mine but when my anxiety was bad it used to annoy the hell out of me when people used to say “have you tried…” or worse still “Pull yourself together if I can do it anyone can”. I wanted to scream at them “First off I’m NOT you and second Do you think I’m not trying?” You know your own body and situation best so just go with that. Keep going, you will get there, you are right a Drs visit is a must at some point. Hope I’m not sounding preachy again.💙

Hi T.
Re recipes and price .....we got cheapo books from a guy called Miguel Barclay ( no he doesn't play midfield for Chelsea 😂) who has simple delicious, easy to follow recipes that cost no more than £1 a meal.

Obviously the ones we have are vegan and vegetarian but he's neither and his original book " the £1 chef " was full of meat recipes and sold really well .

We got the books dead cheap from the Works but you will find them in any cheap book store or on line.

@Gwladysover here's a photo of the book front in case you are interested.

The meals are gorgeous and yes that is my Everton lanyard that I product placed into the shot 😂1000018288.webp

@Barnfred 55
@Gwladysover
@anjelikaferrett

A meet up of everyone next weekend would be amazing!

I'm happy to offer my garden as a venue but I fear that my location and timing won't work ( Anj is coming Saturday and Fred trying to come Monday ).

The common thread seems to be a pilgrimage to the Old Lady on Sunday ( but Anj I think you are planning to go home then ? )

I can be flexible but I'm pretty committed to helping out the cricket club Saturday afternoon ( Anj I can pop back to meet you if you can't do AM ) .

Any thoughts guys?

Not next weekend it’s the weekend after. Saturday evening would be okay for us but travelling would be a problem.
