It is. It really annoys me but top players shout it out when they win a point. Now usually it's at an important moment in the match like game point or after a really good rally but increasingly players are shouting it out routinely.I’d confidently say he has learned something from you alright. Is the ‘Choi’ shout a table tennis thing?
It's done to psyche you up and put your opponent off.
The 10 year old took it to new levels last night - I've never heard it at a practice session and delighted to say I've never uttered the phrase myself although I have been guilty of an occasional fist pump and " Good boy or get in " if I win a close game against someone that I've never beaten ( twice in the whole of last season).
Anyway the kid has obviously been watching too many elite players and thinks that's what he should be doing - does my head in - but putting that to one side the intensity that he showed in practice was impressive and I suspect that something that our blue boys could learn from
