Whoever they wanted is probably employed. They wanted to ride with Dyche till the summer and get there guy in.

That still might happen.
If they gave Moyes a 6 month contract, I’d agree but it’s widely reported that it’s 2.5 years. They won’t get rid of him this summer if that’s the case, would cost millions and make very little difference if we don’t improve the squad. Every penny this summer needs to be spent on players.

We don't know the full details of the contract and it doesn't matter to them.

De Rossi signed a 3 year contract at Roma in the summer. A few weeks later he was sacked.

Moyes is not there guy, he was someone who was available at the time.

If we improve the squad and he starts to struggle next season, I’d agree but Moyes won’t be going anywhere this summer.

It really depends what their ambitions are for Everton. If they want to see us as a 'stable' club where they provide marginal investment into the first team they they'll stick with Moyes and it's highly likely we'll be a mid-table side in the coming years.

If they want us to challenge the top six, compete in cup competitions and get into Europe, it means they'll put in serious money for it. I doubt Moyes at 65 in a few years is the person for that.

But seeing as players are generally handed five-year contracts and it's difficult to offload failed signings, does it really make sense to give Moyes, two years on his contract, the keys to the castle when the top four is genuinely within touching distance if we just make 4-5 smart signings?

I'm not so sure it does, but obviously the right manager would need to be available to push us on, and no idea who that would be.

I'm not so sure.

They wanted someone to replace Dyche this summer and his name wasn't David Moyes.

He got the job as he was available at the time.
I know the Friedkins have been like that at Roma but the club is probably in its most stable position in years and there’s very little demand for a change in manager. I don’t see a huge number of great candidates queuing up to replace him either. I would say there’s maybe 5% chance of Moyes going.

They don't care what the fans think. Roma fans love De Rossi and were outraged when he got sacked.

Lets be honest, Moyes wouldn't have been in the conversation to be the manager. He is just a stop gap.

There number one targer will not change and that's who they will want to spend on transfers in the summer not the stop gap manager.
