Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

Whisper it, in his first season at 17 Paul Gascoigne made his debut.

He made 2 sub appearances and...no goals :o

He then played in 35 and scored 9.

Regarding Rigg, you should watch the kid...hes sensational for his age. Been used all over but in his central midfield games alongside Dan Neil who some posters want us to sign, Rigg is arguably the superior player.
Rigg prob will go on to be the better player but neil will be in last year of his deal, cheaper and may also just be ahead of rigg atm. Just dont really kno how much money we have to spend at say if the price was 40 for rigg that is alot to spend on a player who i would be surprised if moyes put him into the starting lineup. Neil could be half of that price

Calculated risks, yes! And that’s my point really.

I’d want to see a bit more than what’s been seen with Rigg before I start calling him a wonderkid and dropping 30 million pounds on him just so that we can wait for two years before he ‘adjusts to the Premier League’, and then turns out to be like Besic or Rodwell, or some other average CM that has been hyped to the max without really showing anything.

I’m not in love with Josh Brownhill, but like it or not, those stats from this season are extremely impressive!

Do you think Sean ‘15 million pound’ Longstaff would get those figures? How about James Garner, who is in our first 11, and has improved our central midfield no end since his return? He wouldn’t come close to getting those figures!

Perhaps someone like Soucek would actually get those type of figures from central midfield in the championship, but he’d set us back 15 - 20 million as he approaches 30 years old.

Whoever gets Brownhill on a free transfer is going to be cleaning up in the exact same way we did when we got Tarky on a free! Very good value for money, with minimum risk!
Same think we need atleast 2 for cm coupd bring in a brownhill and say a rigg then would balance out because then could yive rigg more time to develop and brownhill could be a low priced move wages fill in a few positions as a swuad backup

Brownhill's 29 and this season is a complete anomaly in terms of goals - he's on track to score as many goals this season as he has in the last 4 combined. I actually don't mind Brownhill as a player and we genuinely could do worse than pick him up on a free as a squad option, but just saying he's scored 15 goals this year so must be better than Rigg who's scored 4 is logic even my 6 year old daughter would laugh at.

I think you might have mentioned him previously? Any good? What type of player?

Can play all over midfield.. defensive, central and attacking.

Very quick and dare i say exciting for a CM..

Andrey Santos is his central midfield 'partner' on loan from Chelsea. Hes another level entirely.

I’d say forget about Brownhill’s figures for this season as they are a bit of an anomaly. He’s had 3 and a half seasons in the Prem and scored 6 goals. Thats the player we’d be getting.

better than rigg at this moment but agree both players on the opposite sides of there careers. At his age rigg has alot of experience and could be a great move for a club if he keeps up his development. If we did bring in a rigg i would be shocked if moyes does not want another cm

I don't really see it with Neil to be honest. He's not awful but I haven't seen anything that has made me think he's a player likely to become a top PL midfielder. For £20m I wouldn't even consider it.

If we signed Neil and Moyes gets us 8-10th next season and 6-8th the season after.

We'll need the level of player that, if he progresses as most expect, Rigg becomes. Someone with the Xfactor.

If we dream a little, we could sign Rigg and have him and Armstrong in the team in 2 or 3 seasons time.

Thats the type of player that people will want to watch at the new stadium. Thats what could increase global fanbase which then increases revenue streams.

There are calculated risks in football all the time. To sign Neil over Rigg would be a mistake i think. If the choice was there.

Just a name has been linked dont really watch the championship so dont kno much about any of the lads including fellows. Is just the rumoured price of rigg is other options like hackney at boro i have seen in here who we could get for less

Habib Diarra

It is not just Gueye who is coming to the end of his deal on Merseyside, with Abdoulaye Doucoure in the same boat.

As players look set to leave, L’Equipe have provided some encouraging news as RC Strasbourg would green light Habib Diarra’s exit this summer.

It is claimed Everton are one of the clubs who are showing a keen interest in the 21-year-old Senegal international.

The Toffees are not alone, however, with Brighton and Hove Albion also placing Diarra on their radar.

Diarra has three years remaining on his deal. So, he would not come cheap, but Strasbourg are not looking to stand in his way.

Everton have been mooted as a landing spot for Kevin De Bruyne, and although that remains incredibly unlikely, a swoop for Diarra may now be on.

It will be interesting to see whether Gueye’s future at the club could play a role in this as he could help recruit his fellow countryman to join.
If he's at Strasbourg then he pretty much is guaranteed to go to Chelsea

I agree with you but can we afford 40 mill the rumoured price for him when we need spend in so many areas. 40 mill on a player who i would be surprised to break into the starting lineup this season is a massive risk when we need starters. Like how much do you honestly think we have this window to spend. Adding thst we need atleast 2 wingers and maybe two cf and that will be alot of the budget we have this window.

Just realistic to be a mix of players coming in but if he does come in is just being smart on the length and money in his contract.
That depends he would want a 3 yr deal on £60k you’re taking 15mil not a fortune, but With a new starting centre mid joining,
Plus Tim and Armstrong being ready the year after , hes very likely to be sitting on the bench for most of them years. Yes I know all players will cost money, but I’d rather loan back up players this summer and see how Armstrong and Tim get on and go from there next season, With Gana likely to them as well

Depends. Its like their centre forward, hes highly rated but would they bring him up to compete with Jackson?

Santos would be the dream if hes able to keep up the Strasbourg form. But i would expect him to go back to Chelsea and Diarra to be sold.

That money they can sort PSR and bring in more players to their feeder club.
