Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

Habib Diarra

It is not just Gueye who is coming to the end of his deal on Merseyside, with Abdoulaye Doucoure in the same boat.

As players look set to leave, L’Equipe have provided some encouraging news as RC Strasbourg would green light Habib Diarra’s exit this summer.

It is claimed Everton are one of the clubs who are showing a keen interest in the 21-year-old Senegal international.

The Toffees are not alone, however, with Brighton and Hove Albion also placing Diarra on their radar.

Diarra has three years remaining on his deal. So, he would not come cheap, but Strasbourg are not looking to stand in his way.

Everton have been mooted as a landing spot for Kevin De Bruyne, and although that remains incredibly unlikely, a swoop for Diarra may now be on.

It will be interesting to see whether Gueye’s future at the club could play a role in this as he could help recruit his fellow countryman to join.
This is @hoppy job mate....can you leave it to him please😂

The Chris Rigg ‘Sunderland Sensation’ has scored four goals in the Championship this season, and not a single goal this side of Christmas.
Played practically every single game for them this season and he’s only 17. There is a player there mate, not all about goals - you should know that by now! They help like but

Whisper it, in his first season at 17 Paul Gascoigne made his debut.

He made 2 sub appearances and...no goals :o

He then played in 35 and scored 9.

Regarding Rigg, you should watch the kid...hes sensational for his age. Been used all over but in his central midfield games alongside Dan Neil who some posters want us to sign, Rigg is arguably the superior player.

A bit more if you’re going to be using the term ‘wonderkid’ and have valuations of 20 - 30 million.

It also follows my point that there’s a central midfielder that scored 16 goals in the same league, and he’s available for free.

Have you ever watched him? The lad is a clear talent. How many goals do you expect a 17 year old midfielder to be scoring?

I have watched him. A young kid showing some good promise… great.

I’m just not agreeing with the wonderkid tag or the wonderkid valuations just yet. And I’m definitely not up for spending 20 - 30 million on him this summer.

I think he needs to carry on taking the Championship by storm for a bit longer before he warrants being called a wonderkid and having a valuation of 30 million pound.

I think you might have mentioned him previously? Any good? What type of player?

So wait until he’s twice as expensive and has far better options.

You have to take risks if you want to move up a level. That doesn’t involve signing Josh Brownhill who is pushing 30 and has played 70% of his career below the Prem.

Very harsh stance that. There are very very few 17 yr olds playing at Championship level, in such a key areaof the pitch and holding his own. Expectations from a fan base like Sunderland’s will be high too, regardless of age, they wouldn’t accept anyone playing week in, week out if they weren’t able to hold their own. Most lads his age won’t have had their first shave or spoken with a girl yet, so 4 goals in the Championship is not to be scoffed at. Agree that possibly not worth punt at £30m right now (pay £20m all day long) but sometimes you have to speculate to accumulate and gamble on the potential.

Calculated risks, yes! And that’s my point really.

I’d want to see a bit more than what’s been seen with Rigg before I start calling him a wonderkid and dropping 30 million pounds on him just so that we can wait for two years before he ‘adjusts to the Premier League’, and then turns out to be like Besic or Rodwell, or some other average CM that has been hyped to the max without really showing anything.

I’m not in love with Josh Brownhill, but like it or not, those stats from this season are extremely impressive!

Do you think Sean ‘15 million pound’ Longstaff would get those figures? How about James Garner, who is in our first 11, and has improved our central midfield no end since his return? He wouldn’t come close to getting those figures!

Perhaps someone like Soucek would actually get those type of figures from central midfield in the championship, but he’d set us back 15 - 20 million as he approaches 30 years old.

Whoever gets Brownhill on a free transfer is going to be cleaning up in the exact same way we did when we got Tarky on a free! Very good value for money, with minimum risk!
