Only Ipswich and Southampton below us, in retrospect he's done a fair job.

Yes he might have done an excellent job but he supports liverpool so let’s get someone who doesn’t support Liverpool and is rubbish - then everyone will be happier

I think excellent is stretching it, we have one of the worst squads in the league, talent-wise. Considering the lack of money we've had I'd say he's done a decent job. Mostly the teams with the least money get relegated, and we've managed to survive. As for the next guy, well it depends on the structure and funds available.

Agents are the biggest parasites of the game, attaching themselves to young talent to cream their 10% from their salary for their entire careers. I respect the heck out of players - mostly now retired - who had no agent or allowed a family member to take charge.
In todays footballing world if a young player doesn't have an agent, then someone else will take advantage. Player contracts alone can be tens of pages and if you don't understand every aspect of it, you will be screwed over. Club's don't run a charity shop. They will make the contract as good for them as possible. Wage is just a minor part of the whole thing.

Agents also offer their contacts when it's time to move on. Who would the player call? Every possible club and ask if they would like to hire him?

10% might sound a lot, but it's pretty much guaranteed a good agent will more than make that up in his clients' contracts.

It’s difficult to find any fault in him given how Moyes has achieved so far with the team.
You can argue that Dyche has been found out with Moyes and I can see that.
But the counter balance must be that Thelwell was punching above the finances available to him.

Man if only Thelwell was as good at actually signing players as he was at almost or nearly signing players

A lot of that happens to be because we didn't have money behind us like most other premier league clubs, had to sell to buy with profit and let's be honest we weren't exactly the biggest draw in this league were we

The point is its a hell of a lot easier to leak out who you 'like' after the fact rather than actually signing players. Not unique to Thelwell either. Brands was worse for it. If we spent time on who the dof theoretically wanted to sign we'd be here all year. Not to mention how every good signing is down to their genius and every dud so happens to be someone else's fault

Moyes gets a lot of leeway for not having money to spend in past jobs. But that doesn't seem to extend to Thelwell

There's been several sources suggesting that Thelwell didn't want Maupay. Not sure if it was Guirassy but he had other targets. Chairman Bill and Moshiri wanted someone with PL experience so overruled him.

….preferred it when this thread was on page 6 rather than read about all the great players he nearly signed and all the bad ones that were down to somebody else.

The bloke is being shown the door for a reason, be interesting where he’s working next season.

Sound, what's his excuse for Beto, Broja and chermiti?
